Introduction

Two men walking up a hill,

One disappears and one’s left standing still,

I wish we’d all been ready.

(From the song: “I wish we’d all been ready” by Larry Norman)

According to the Scriptures, Enoch was translated [was taken into heaven before he died] because he pleased God.

Moses’ body was never found and the prophet Elijah was taken up into heaven by a fiery chariot drawn by fiery horses. (Mark 9:2-4) – Moses & Elijah appeared with Jesus, many years after they had lived on Earth.

The Scriptures talk of ‘a thief in the night’ who will snatch away His bride, {the blood bought believers in the Lord Jesus Christ, who are alive at His return} - miraculously lifting them up to meet the Lord at the time of His promised return. (Refer: Acts 1:11) – [this is called the rapture – derived from a Latin word, used to describe this event.]

Death will be followed by resurrection in every other instance; though according to the scriptures they shall occur at different times.

Paul an Apostle of the Lord Jesus Christ, inspired by the Holy Spirit related in 1 Corinthians Chapter 15:23-26, what has happened and what is still to come:

23. But every man in his own order: Christ the first-fruits; afterward they that are Christ’s at His coming.

24. Then cometh the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God, even the Father; when He shall have put down all rule and all authority and power.

25. For He must reign, till He hath put all enemies under His feet.

26. The last enemy that shall be destroyed is death.

And he repeats this in a slightly more detailed way in his letter to the Thessalonians.

16. For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:

17. Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

18. Wherefore comfort one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18

Considerably earlier, Enoch who was the 7th from Adam prophesied about this event saying:

‘Behold, the Lord cometh with ten thousands of his saints, to execute judgment upon all, and to convince all that are ungodly among them of all their ungodly deeds which they have ungodly committed, and of all their hard speeches which ungodly sinners have spoken against him.’ Jude v14-15

How we have lived in this life will determine the sort of journey we will take after we have left our bodies behind, though we can take nothing of this earth with us when we leave. Our material wealth, whether it be a private jet, or a soccer team, a house on the hill, or an e-type jag, a fender Stratocaster guitar, or a record by Frank Sinatra, all of our most cherished pearls will have to stay behind for others to use, or abuse, and eventually discard, for as Jesus taught all these things go to moth and dust. Our real treasure need to be in heaven, these earthly treasures no matter how we have struggled to acquire them, will be left behind.

‘For we brought nothing into this world, and it is certain we can carry nothing out.’ 1Timothy 6:7

The unnamed rich man in the story which Jesus told of the rich man and Lazarus ended up in the last place he expected, the poor man who sat by his gate hoping for a handout, while he was living on earth, ended up with Abraham in a fine place called Abraham’s bosom.  The rich man found himself in the torments of Hades, pleading with Abraham in Paradise for help. Refer: Luke 16:19-31

My step-father who drank heavily developed hardening of the arteries in his reclining years, first had one leg amputated and then another, eventually he suffered a series of strokes which eventually ended his earthly life. While in hospital he called for me to come and visit him.

As I stood beside his bed in the intensive care unit, he called for me to draw closer.

Between the tubes and the hazy look in his eyes came the most stirring words I have ever heard.

“I have seen the Christ,” he mumbled and then went silent again, almost serene.

I left the hospital startled.  Here was a man that had been so hard to approach on matters of faith during his life, and now on his deathbed he had experienced the Lord in a way that many would have longed for.

A few days later, like the thief on the cross who was granted a right of passage to paradise by Jesus, my step-father was gone from this world.

Doctor Maurice Rawlings, a cardiologist, in his book entitled, ‘To Hell and back’ describes how, one of the many patients referred to in his book, hung in the balance between this world and Sheol.  [The Hebrew word for the place of the departed spirits of the lost]

What follows is an extract from page 37 of his book.

“I (Dr. Rawlings) was giving CPR to a patient when the following incident occurred. I inserted a pacemaker through the shoulder and guided it through the vein into Charlie’s heart. His heart stopped so I began to pound on his heart, but as I did blood spurted out, I stopped to adjust the pacemaker. And as I did, Charlie’s eyes would roll back in his head, he would splutter, turn blue, and convulse.  This happened several times.  Once while I stopped to adjust the pacemaker Charlie screamed, ‘Don’t stop, don’t stop, I’m in Hell, I’m in Hell.’

Hallucinations, I thought at first, but most patients say, ‘Take your big hands off me, you’re breaking my ribs,’ but he was saying the opposite ‘For God’s sake don’t stop! Don’t you understand, every time you stop I’m in Hell. When he asked me to pray for him I felt downright insulted. I told him to shut up, I’m a doctor, not a minister or a psychiatrist.  Then the nurse gave me the expectant look. What would you do? That’s when I composed a make believe prayer.  I made him repeat the prayer to him off my back.  Say it!

Jesus Christ son of God, Keep me out of Hell.’ And a very strange thing took place.  He was no longer that wild-eyed screaming lunatic. It was then that I too (Dr. Rawlings) became a Christian.”

Hades / Sheol still receives souls, and will do so until the day that the bodies of the ungodly dead are resurrected and brought before the Judgment throne of God.

‘And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened, and another book was opened, which is the book of life, and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.’  Revelation 20:12

However very few people these days believe that there is a place which the New Testament translates in English with the word hell.

I prefer to use the Greek and Hebrew words for this place which is for the departed spirits who have lived ungodly lives, and have rejected God as He has revealed himself to us throughout History, since creation and now in these last times by His only begotten Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.

‘For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:’ Romans 1:20

‘God who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, hath in these last days spoken unto us by His Son, whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds;’ Hebrews 1:1-2

The cartoon version of Hades is still presented to little children by Walt Disney and Warner Bros. where Satan has cloven hooves, horns, a trident and a tail being surrounded by flames that seem unable to harm him. Sort of like ‘Pan’ a character out of Greek Mythology.  Perhaps Hollywood’s producers and actors might do well to read the Bible, and to heed the passage where Jesus has warned us about deceiving children.

‘But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.’  (Matthew 18:6)

(Refer: Dr Max Wertheimer’s article titled, ‘Satan’ for a clear biblical presentation)

The Bible definitely teaches that there is a place for the ungodly departed spirits, called Hell. { in Greek – Hades / in Hebrew - Sheol }, as well as a Lake of Fire. {in Greek – Gehenna / in Hebrew –Tophet}, where these will finally be damned to eternal punishment, after appearing before God for the last time – at the Great White Judgment Throne.

The Jehovah’s Witnesses do not believe in punishment that goes on forever and ever, thereby rejecting the teaching of Jesus about everlasting punishment.

Yet Matthew inspired by the Holy Spirit records Jesus using these very words:-

‘And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.’  Matthew 25:46

Mary K. Baxter had a series of dreams in which Jesus took her into this terrible place of suffering and showed her things that would send most of us packing for the caves of Tibet.

The information that I am presenting here is not done with the intention of frightening you, but instead to warn of what must be, and how you may escape such an awful end.

In truth, I once spent some time considering the whole aspect of what would be the most important thing to tell the human race, if I had only one last sentence to say before I went home to be with Jesus.  Sort of like a time capsule with a page and upon it written, the most important sentence.

Once when I was out walking with my eleven year old son, we were writing things on the path with sticks and the next day, when we came back the same way, I saw it, my son’s handwriting and the words said it all.

JESUS LOVES YOU

Whereas, so many have chosen to express the theological insights of the great minds of those who have written on these things, like John Bunyan, Jonathan Edwards, Arthur Pink, Derek Prince, J.C. Ryle and scores of others, I have chosen to follow the example of Dr. Max Werheimer, [a rabbi who came to faith in Jesus in the early 1900’s], and make my Bibliography a Bible-ography with one source and that is of course, the Word of God.

The Apostle Paul tells Timothy, in the following passage of scripture:

‘All scripture is given by inspiration of God.’ 2 Timothy 3:16a – God breathed

One significant problem I encountered with the Jehovah’s Witnesses’ beliefs is that they do not accept the divine authority of the Scriptures.

They much prefer to alter the scriptures to suit their own doctrines, reflected in their numerous publications and more specifically in, The Watchtower.’  [This is the magazine they normally hand to you on their door to door missionary tasks]

If a passage of scripture contradicts what they believe, they merely change the scripture. In fact they have their own Bible, called the ‘New World Translation’, where there are many such changes.

Here is a list of just a few passages they have changed:

Hebrews 1:8; 10:39; 12:9

1 Corinthians 11:30; 14:14

John 1:1

Galatians 5:15; 6:18

Acts 2:17; 20:7

1 John 4:16; 5:20

Luke 23:43

Philippians 2:5

2 Corinthians 5:1

Titus 2:13

Jude 19

Revelation 5:10; 8:9

Mark 1:4

Colossians 1:15-18; 2:12

1 Peter 3:18&19

Whereas so many who have written on this subject and have relied on the translation of certain words or arguments about passages of Scripture, that are taken out of context, or long quotes from many different writers, who having engaged in heated debates with each other publicly and brought public shame to the name of Jesus, you will be pleased to find that this body of work, is taken exclusively from the King James Bible. (a version as old as this writer)

My research into Greek and Hebrew is exclusively from The Key Word Study Bible (Hebrew & Greek) also a KJV 1991 edition by Spiros Zodhiates.  As you will learn I am not making this about man’s ideas but about what the Scriptures say.

This is not an argument, but rather a presentation.

Jesus commands us to go !

The Church Fathers of old who spent much of their time arguing with each other about the Scriptures, might have found that their energies would have been far better served if they had spent their time and efforts obeying the command of Jesus, to reach out to this lost and hurting world.

‘And He (Jesus) said unto them, “Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature.” ’ Mark 16:15

The mechanics that come into operation once a new believer is taught the importance of sharing his faith and leading others to faith in Jesus far outweighs that of any modern programming that may be used to bring about spiritual maturity.

The gigantic temples of today with the glitz and glimmer of smoke machines and television screens, is a far cry from the Christianity that was practiced by the early disciples who had little time for egotism or self-worship. They spent less time warming pews behind stain glass windows and more time bringing in the harvest of lost souls.

Why?  They were being obedient to Jesus.

They were so busy reaching out to the lost and sharing with them the power and healing of this glorious new Life they had come to know through Jesus.

All  who had been healed of demon possession, blindness, deafness or insanity by Jesus had now been given this same authority and they were going about sharing what He had done and as they went miracles happened just like they had when Jesus was on earth.

There are many accounts of this in the Book of Acts, and if you keep your eyes and heart open,  you might just see Jesus doing miracles in your neighbourhood.  After all; He is Alive !  (Refer: Mark 16:15-18); a most beautiful passage, indeed.

Perhaps Paul’s desire to speak only five words to edification was because there are only five words that need to be said; which Keith Green a modern day disciple of Jesus titled one of his last albums, before he went home to be with Jesus.

And they are:

“J  E  S  U  S     C  O  M  M  A  N  D  S     U  S     T  O     G  O”

Someone you don’t know

The Jehovah’s Witnesses who roam the streets are not being faithful as evangelists at all.

All they are doing is bringing arguments about Christian Doctrine to the homes they visit. They call these ‘Bible Studies’.  Instead they use very carefully crafted triggers to win converts to their Organization and not to Jesus.

Using the tried and true techniques of successful salesmanship they do a character assessment and prescribe a cure. Some will even lie if they cannot win you with the question system. [Their questions are very carefully assembled to expose your vulnerabilities and weaknesses.]

I have as yet to hear a Jehovah’s Witness say, “You are so right, you know.”

Their strategy and systematic invasion of one’s privacy is nothing short of a direct pressure sale.  Quite the opposite to what is recommended as the correct approach to those who are not yet saved.

‘But sanctify the Lord God in your hearts: and be ready always to give an answer to every man that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you with meekness and fear.’ 1 Peter 3:15

I often wonder why they don’t just hand out little Bibles and quit all the nonsense.

The worst thing is, they have taken the name Jesus out of the picture, and instead they push the name Jehovah, saying Jesus is not God.  They openly reject the Deity of Jesus. He is called a Prince or Hero, but never God.

The bible teaches that Jesus is our Saviour. He is called God our Saviour, and Immanuel or God with us.  (if you wish to, refer to:A Play On Words,  where you will find plenty of scriptural evidence testifying to this fact)

What they are doing is trying to introduce something to you, rather than someone because they clearly do not know God, personally.  They are religious.

Daniel Amos, a band that had spanned over three decades of relevant ministry released their first album with the song, ‘Jesus is Jehovah to me’, as their opening track. First there is the sound of footsteps, and then the proverbial knock on the door that precedes a visit from the Witnesses.  With the sound of pedal steel in true country tradition the band exposes the blatant error of this Cult.

JESUS IS JEHOVAH TO ME

Words and Music by Jerry Chamberlain, Marty Dieckmeyer, Terry Taylor
©1976 Maranatha! Music

I can tell you're a sincere man
And I'm tryin' my best to understand
But your words are confusin', it seems you're abusin'
God's Word that's there in your hand

Now a Christian you say you are
But that's stretchin' the Truth much too far
'Cause in Christ I doubt you believe
And Jesus is Jehovah to me

Jesus is Jehovah to me
He's Lord and He's King of Kings
Almighty God is He
Jesus is Jehovah to me

Now we both have said that the Lord's comin' back
And you've more than once stated that fact
Now it seems rather odd, if your prophets of God
Your dates have been so far off the track

Now the Watchtower can only deceive
But from Jesus you can receive
God's Spirit comes in, and you're born again
Singin' Jesus is Jehovah to me

Jesus is Jehovah to me
He's Lord and He's King of Kings
He's more than a man, He's the great I AM
Jesus is Jehovah to me
If you're really "Awake", You'll make no mistake
Jesus is Jehovah to me

Once a crowd of very young Jehovah’s Witnesses came to my door and tried to introduce me to someone they did not know.  I was so burdened by the terrible waste of their young lives.  They were third or fourth generation kids of Witness parents.

The young girl told me that her grandfather who was a Witness, used to read a King James Bible.  I asked her what copy of the Scriptures she had in her bag.  Before she got it out, I managed to say, “I bet it is a New World Translation.”

It was.

I asked them if they could tell me whose beard was plucked in the Book of Isaiah.  They looked rather puzzled.  I helped them.

“It’s Jehovah’s beard”, I began to explain.

It was as if I had hit a nerve for they began to retreat to the gate, leaving me in my happy garden.  I repeated the question as they smiled awkwardly. Obviously they had never come upon this truth before and were off to check out the passage with their leaders.

In the following extract from ex-Rabbi Dr Max Wertheimer’s book From Rabbinism to Christ, in Chapter Seven: Searching the Scriptures, he describes how as a Rabbi he searched the book of Isaiah and as he did he began to learn who it was who had had his beard plucked.

In Isaiah 50 verse 6, I read, ‘I gave my back to smiters.’

I said to myself, “Who gave His back to the smiters? ‘Thus said Jehovah,’ Jehovah is the only speaker. Jehovah gave His back to the smiters.  Has Jehovah a back?  Was that back ever smitten?  If so, when?

Reading further: I gave ‘my cheeks to them that plucked off the hair,’ and I asked myself, “Who gave His cheeks to them that plucked off the hair?  It says at the beginning of the chapter, ‘Thus saith Jehovah.’ Jehovah is the only speaker all through this chapter.  It is Jehovah who gave His cheeks to them.  Has Jehovah a cheek? Has Jehovah hair? If so, who plucked off the hair?”

There are so many children who are caught in the wheel of this very cruel mechanism of indoctrination, trapped inside this Cult along with their parents and grandparents. It must be so lonely.

It is my earnest prayer that they and their parents and grandparents will come to know and love this Jesus (JEHOVAH YESOUS), and experience the joy of being really free and cleansed by the blood of Jehovah.  (Leviticus Chapters 16 & 17 – Where Jehovah says, “for the life if the flesh is in the blood” and “I (Jehovah) have given it (the blood) to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls.”) – for it is the blood that maketh atonement by reason of the life.

Again Dr Wertheimer talks about the blood of Jehovah;

‘I used to think that meant turning over a new leaf.  No!  No! It is the blood of Jehovah that makes atonement for the soul.  I had thought a little act of charity would make atonement for the soul.  No, sir! It is the blood of Jehovah.  I used to repeat the popular phrase, “Do the best you can, make as many resolutions as you can.” No! No! It is the blood of Jehovah that makes atonement for the soul.  I had it in black and white in the Old Testament.’

Who would have thought that the prophet Isaiah, who served Jehovah in a ministerial capacity for forty years (740-697 BC) during the reigns of four Judean kings (Isaiah 1:1): Uzzaih, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, could have so accurately described in minute detail how Jehovah would be the one who would offer His blood to cleanse us from iniquity?  (sin and it’s consequences)

Jesus or Jehovah, had His beard plucked.  It is by His stripes that we are healed, and it is He who was beaten and bruised to bring us forgiveness and deliverance and healing.  It is Jehovah who infact hung upon the Cross and bled for us, it is His blood that can wash away our sins.

‘Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.’ (Isaiah 1:18)

Prophecy

The Jehovah’s Witnesses believe that they have the prophecies that the world is looking for.  Yet their prophets are so far off course.  They predicted that Jesus would return to Earth, and after He did not they changed their story several times.

Their story always changes.

Now in ancient times if a prophet lied he would be put to death.  Yet, the Watchtower is still pumping out its erroneous end time prophecies. However, because they are based on altered Scriptures they will keep on trying and miss the point and mostly because they’re doing so, in direct disobedience to God’s instructions.

‘But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.’  Mark 13:32

Even the Apostle Paul knew this point clearly and warned against this sort of guessing.

‘But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you. For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.’
1 Thessalonians 5:1-2

Instead of repenting of these false prophecies, they continue to distribute the extensive library of books and pamphlets styled by the Watchtower Society’s editors and theologians.  The simple message of Salvation through Jesus is not the central point of why they go from ‘door to door’.

The Scriptures speak out very strongly

against these sort of practices.

2 Peter 2:1-3

‘But there were false prophets also among the people, even as there shall be false teachers among you, who privily shall bring in damnable heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction.

And many shall follow their pernicious ways: by reason of whom the way of truth shall be evil spoken of

And through covetousness shall they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their damnation slumbereth not.’

A doorstep encounter with our friends from the Jehovah’s Witnesses is far from friendly and in most cases; downright hostile.  In truth they do not have anything to offer, expect maybe the fear of Armageddon, a device used among most of the cults of the world to terrify the uninformed into signing up for the program. They toy with passages of Scripture, in much the same that a cat does before it kills its prey. They love to use verse 15* of the following passage to entreat one into a Bible Study, yet the verses on either side relate to their carving style of evangelism.

14. Of these things put them in remembrance, charging them before the Lord that they strive not about words to no profit, but to the subverting of the hearers.

*15. Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.

16. But shun profane and vain babblings: for they will increase unto more ungodliness.  2 Timothy 2:14-16

I hope that none of this sort engages me as they have done in the past.  Let them win a soul first, with the wisdom that comes from above {the Holy Ghost} and not from the their books of their theological magazines.

Perfectly

Perhaps the position of the Jehovah’s Witnesses is most accurately described in the story of Apollos in the Acts of the Apostles.

24. And a certain Jew named Apollos, born at Alexandria, an eloquent man, and mighty in the scriptures, came to Ephesus.

25. This man was instructed in the way of the Lord; and being fervent in the spirit, he spake and taught diligently the things of the Lord, knowing only the baptism of John.

26. And he began to speak boldly in the synagogue: whom when Aquila and Priscilla had heard, they took him unto them, and expounded unto him the way of God more perfectly.     Acts 18:24 – 26

Being zealous about the Scriptures, or being able to preach or teach or even give a bible study is wonderful.  Having a profound mental experience of the truths that are contained in the Scriptures is of course very useful.  The Jews have always had this and yet many of them still remain blinded to the real truth contained therein.

However, once Aquilla and Priscilla, Paul’s fellow tent makers and disciples of Jesus, had spent some time preaching Jesus to Apollos, who was a disciple of John the Baptist; and most certainly he then received the Baptism in the Holy Spirit directly from Jesus. (Jesus is the Baptizer)

‘For John truly baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the Holy Ghost not many days hence.’ Acts 1:5

Without an actual personal encounter with Jesus, all you have my dear Jehovah’s Witness is religion. (Man’s search for God)

If one were to view the Bible as map to a destination where untold wealth could be acquired and made changes to this map with an idea to improve it, and paid no respect to the original map, there is no doubt in my mind that those who would follow such a map would find themselves sailing miles off course and even end up shipwrecked.

Tampering with God’s Word is probably the single most stupid thing that any human should attempt.  The pressures of this life and the uncertainty of the life that is to come, are all answered within the pages of God’s Word. To tamper with this is to be responsible for the sicknesses and diseases that are unlocked as a result of disobeying the following warnings.

The Apostle John clearly expresses the dangers involved in doing this.

Revelation 22:18 & 19

18. For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:

19. And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

Once I heard a good answer to one of their questions;

“What do you think is the solution to the world’s problems?”

Most people would struggle and get themselves right in line for a full scale process of indoctrination.

The answer is so simple.

Jesus

Preface

Many nights while I was providing sound for a Jazz band, I would sit myself down at the long table in the restaurant and pour over numerous theological arguments and especially the writings of Jonathan Edwards. (300 year old writings)

I was lost in a sea of theological brilliance.

Each theologian had his own particular angle of viewing the scriptures.

Each one seemed to concentrate on different passages of scripture.

Each one seemed to be so intense and yet there were so many who argued pathetically, taking a particular word and basing an entire defence upon it.  Sometimes taking passages out of context and presenting arguments that were equally mystifying, sourcing from early church fathers, even some who were known to be heretics.

I felt just like a miner, digging and digging and finding many strains of gold but no big veins and then it happened. As I was chipping away at the hard rocks, the mountain gave way and opened up into a cavern filled with light and simplicity.  I thought my searching was over.  I had found a writer who clearly understood the question and had answered it in a way that left me with no doubt that his first priority was presenting the Bible as his main source. This man was Arthur Walkington Pink and the booklet was entitled: ‘Eternal Punishment.’

I was convinced now that I all I needed to do was to type out the question and submit his booklet as the answer.

Instead, with my head full of the nectar that I had extracted from a massive ‘beehive of History’s most excellent theologians’, plus a huge list of complex Hebrew and Greek words ,with equally complex interpretations, I settled down and began to write.

I was going along nicely, writing down my thoughts and discoveries, and at some point I began to refer to some New Testament passages. As I tried to write the words, “I have read the New Testament……” I was stopped in my tracks.

I had not read the entire New Testament on the subject. I was so exhausted from months of studies and was just about ready to throw in the towel when my attention was caught by the brilliant painting of William Blake, which appears on the first page.

As I looked at the picture I imagined the following:

Here was the oldest deceiver of all time, trying to get Jesus to accept his particular blend of philosophical and biblical distortion of the truth, and ultimately to get him to worship at his feet.  Jesus, responded by using the opening words, ‘It is written’, and began quoting from the book of Deuteronomy.

He did not quote modified texts.

He quoted existing texts.

He did not quote Jewish Fables, He quoted from the Scriptures.

He acknowledged the Scriptures that testified of Him.

Satan was dismissed by Jesus, for Satan had a defective sword of truth.

Jesus acknowledged the scriptures as they were, and did not attempt to alter them.

Though he had been dismissed, he would most certainly come back at a more opportune time; laden with many more misquotes.

He always returns with more false teachings, and he always acquires them by altering the Bible to suit his own ends.  (steal, kill and destroy)

So when Jesus said, ‘It is written’, He was announcing to Satan the authority of the words He was about to speak.  He was not merely delivering his own perception or commentary or even a quotation.

A manipulative and prejudicial approach to the Bible is probably the biggest mistake anyone can make.  These are not simply the works of scholars in isolation, these are God breathed words.  This is the Word of God, not a textbook on Theological Doctrines.

20. Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

21. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.  2 Peter 1:20,21

16. All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

17. That the man of God may be perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works. 2 Timothy 3:16,17

I thought, ‘if Jesus says, ‘It is written’, then why am I wasting my time and not attending to the Scriptures.

Whereas some of the finest writers could have graced these pages, none of them could hold a candle to the likes of;

Jude, the younger brother of Jesus, or to Peter the humble fisherman who walked upon the water, or to Paul who had been a Pharisee; who studied ancient Greek and Hebrew, or the doctor Luke who gave us a detailed account of the life and ministry of Jesus as well as the early Church, or the prisoner John who received a revelation of humungous proportion, as well as a  profound presentation of the Gospel of Jesus Christ, or Matthew, or Mark who by the Holy Spirit rendered scripture concerning the Messiah plus many letters from Paul and others that are now contained in the New Testament.

All the early disciples had followed Jesus everywhere during His 3 years of ministry, sitting many times at His feet, as He taught them with words that Peter describes as being ‘the words of life.’ Sitting at the feet of Jesus after He was risen from the dead, they were honoured with the Master’s instruction for a further 40 days, before He ascended to be with the Father.

From this position He was now able to pour forth the Holy Spirit into each believer.  The Teacher had not left.  Out of this unique new way, the Holy Spirit guided the rendering of Scripture which we call the New Testament.

Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, He hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear. Acts 2:33

So as not to endlessly defend why I rely completely upon the Scriptures in answering this most difficult of life’s question, let us come to reason and examine the New Testament;  starting with the Gospel of Matthew let us walk all the way through to Revelation.

Please realize a very important thing:

Learning about these things should not be to equip you with passages to shout out in judgment at those who are lost.  Remember you are standing by Jesus’ grace, alone.

The real purpose of this study is:

To move your heart with compassion towards all of the sons of men, who are hell bound without a hope.

To inspire you to pray for them, and to tell them of the hope that is in Jesus.

Incase you have not understood what I have discussed earlier on, these passages are not another attempt at an argument against those who have imbibed numerous colourful false doctrines, but rather a call to purity in regard to the study of the Scriptures as the only accurate source.

The main purpose of this was to lovingly inform my friends the Jehovah’s Witnesses that Jesus and not the Watchtower needs to be presented before a lost world.

Without planning this, I think it has also become a clear study of the places one could go to on leaving this world. A question that is ranked among the most important questions, that humans seek an answer to in this life.

Oh, yes and you might as well put your New World Translation in the bin at this point, as it is useless from here onwards.

The four goals of this study:

To move your heart with compassion for the lost

To inspire you to pray for them

To instill purity in regard to the study of the Scriptures

To bring a clear study of the places one could go to on leaving this world.

The Gospel according to Matthew

Matthew 3:7

But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees come to his baptism, he said unto them, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come?

Matthew 3:10-12:

10. And now also the axe is laid unto the root of the trees: therefore every tree which bringeth not forth good fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

11. I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance: but he that cometh after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to bear: he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:

12. Whose fan is in his hand, and he will thoroughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire.

Matthew 5:21-22:

21. Ye have heard that it was said by them of old time, Thou shalt not kill; and whosoever shall kill shall be in danger of the judgment:

22. I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of the hell fire.

Matthew 5:29-30:

29. And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

30. And if thy right hand offend thee, cut it off, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell.

Matthew 7:13-14:

13. Enter ye in at the strait gate: for wide is the gate, and broad is the way, that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat:

14. Because strait is the gate, and narrow is the way, which leadeth unto life, and few there be that find it.

Matthew 7:19-20:

19. Every tree that bringeth not forth fruit is hewn down, and cast into the fire.

20. Wherefore by their fruits ye shall know them.

Matthew 7:21-23:

21. Not every one that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven.

22. Many will say to me in that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name cast out devils? And in Thy name done many wonderful things?

23. And then will I profess unto them, I never knew you; depart from me, ye that work iniquity.

Matthew 7:26-27:

26. And everyone that heareth these sayings of mine, and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man, which built his house upon the sand:

27. And the rain descended, and the floods came, and the winds blew, and beat upon that house; and it fell: and great was the fall of it.

Matthew 8:11-12:

11. I say unto you, That many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, in the kingdom of heaven.

12. But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 8: 21, 22:

21. And another of his disciples said unto him.  Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

22. But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

Matthew 8:29:

And, behold, they cried out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God? Art thou come hither to torment us before the time?

Matthew 9:24:

He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

Matthew 10:14-15:

14. And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

15. Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, that for that city.

Matthew 10:28:

And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

Matthew 11:20-24:

20. Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not:

21. Woe unto thee, Chorazin! Woe unto thee, Bethsaida! For if the mighty works, which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago in sackcloth and ashes.

22. But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, that for you.

23. And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted unto the heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works, which had been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

24. But I say unto you, That it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom in the day of judgment, than for thee.

Matthew 12:32:

And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

Matthew 12:36&37:

36. I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

37. For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

Matthew 12:41-42:

41. Then men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

42. The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

Matthew 13:29-30:

29. But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30. Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together first the tares, and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn.

Matthew 13:36-43:

36. Then Jesus sent the multitudes away, and went into the house: and his disciples came unto him, saying, Declare unto us the parable of the tares of the field.

37. He answered and said unto them, He that soweth the good seed is the Son of man;

38. The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children of the wicked one;

39. The enemy that sowed them is the devil; the harvest is the end of the world; and the reapers are the angels.

40. As therefore the tares are gathered and burned in the fire; so shall it be in the end of the world.

41. The Son of man shall send forth his angels, and they shall gather out of his kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity;

42. And shall cast them into a furnace of fire; there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

43. Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun in the kingdom of their Father.  Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

Matthew 13:47-50,:

47. Again, the kingdom of heaven is like unto a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

48. Which, when it was full they drew to shore, and sat down, and gathered the good into vessels, but cast the bad away.

49. So shall it be at the end of the world: the angels shall come forth, and sever the wicked from among the just,

50. And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.

Matthew 15:13-14:

13. But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

14. Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

Matthew 16:18:

And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

Matthew 16:26-27:

26. For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

27. For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

Matthew 18:7-9:

7. Woe unto the world because of offences! for it must needs be that offences come; but woe to the man by whom the offence cometh!

8. Wherefore if thy hand or thy foot offend thee, cut them off, and cast them from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, rather than having two hands or two feet to be cast into everlasting fire.

9. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: it is better for thee to enter into life with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hellfire.

12. And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless.

13. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness; there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

14. For many are called, but few are chosen.

Matthew 22:28-33:

28. Therefore in the resurrection whose wife shall she be of the seven? For they all had her.

29. Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

30. For in the resurrection they neither marry, nor are given in marriage, but are as the angels of God in heaven.

31. But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying,

32. I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

33. And when the multitude heard this, they were astonished at his doctrine.

Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For ye devour widows’ houses, and for a pretence make long prayer: therefore ye shall receive the greater condemnation.

31. When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory:

32. And before him shall be gathered all nations: and he shall separate them one from another, as a sheperd divideth his sheep from the goats:

33. And he shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on the left.

Matthew 25:41:

Then shall he say also unto them on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels:

Matthew 25:46:

And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life eternal.

The Gospel according to Mark

Mark 1:23-24:

23. And there was in their synagogue a man with an unclean spirit; and he cried out,

24. Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, thou Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God.

Mark 8:34-38:

34. And when he had called the people unto Him with His disciples also, He said unto them, Whosoever will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

35. For whosoever will save his life shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose his life for my sake and the gospel’s, the same shall save it.

36. For what shall it profit a man, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul?

37. Or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

38. Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and of my words in this adulterous and sinful generation; of him also shall the Son of man be ashamed, when He cometh in the glory of His Father with the Holy Angels.

Mark 9:43-49:

43. And if thy hand offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter into life maimed, than having two hands to go into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

44. Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

45. And if thy foot offend thee, cut it off: it is better for thee to enter halt into life, than having two feet to be cast into hell, into the fire that never shall be quenched:

46. Where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.

47. And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out: it is better for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hell fire:

19. Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a man's brother die, and leave his wife behind him, and leave no children, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother.

20. Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and dying left no seed.

21. And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: and the third likewise.

22. And the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also.

23. In the resurrection therefore, when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife.

24. And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither the power of God?

25. For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.

26. And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob?

27. He is not the God of the dead, but the God of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

Luke 12:10:

And whosoever shall speak a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but unto him that blasphemeth against the Holy Ghost it shall not be forgiven.

Luke 12:46-51:

46. The lord of the servant will come in a day when he looketh not for him, and at an hour when he is not aware, and will cut him in sunder and appoint him his portion with the unbelievers.

47. And that servant, which knew his lord’s will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes.

25. When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:

26. Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presense, and thou hast taught in our streets.

27. But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity.

28. There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out.

22. And it came to pass, that the beggar died, and was carried by the angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried;

23. And in hell he lift up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham afar off, and Lazarus in his bosom.

24. And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame.

25. But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

26. And beside all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed: so that they which would pass from hence to you cannot; neither can they pass to us, that would come from thence.

Hearken, my beloved brethren, Hath not God chosen the poor of this world rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which he hath promised to them that love Him

James 5:1-3:

1. Go to now, ye rich men, weep and howl for your miseries that shall come upon you.

2. Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten.

28. Likewise also as it was in the days of Lot; they did eat, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they builded;

29. But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all.

30. Even thus shall it be in the day when the Son of man is revealed.

14. But his citizens hated him, and sent a message after him saying, We will not have this man reign over us.

27. But those mine enemies, which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, slay them before me.

Luke 20: 9-27:

9. Then began He to speak to the people this parable; And certain man planted a vineyard, and let it forth to husbandmen, and went into a far country for a long time.

10. And at the season he sent a servant to the husbandman, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but the husbandman beat him, and sent him away empty.

11. And again he sent another servant: and they beat him also, and entreated him shamefully, and sent him away empty.

12. And again he sent a third: and they wounded him also and cast him out.

13. Then said the lord of the vineyard, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be then they will reverence him when they see him.

14. But when the husbandman saw him, they reasoned among themselves, saying, This is the heir: come, let us kill him, that the inheritence may be ours.

15. So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed him. What therefore shall the Lord of the vineyard do unto them?

16. He shall come and destroy these husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. And when they heard it, they said, God forbid.

17. And he beheld them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

18. Whosoever shall fall upon that stone shall be broken; but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him to power.

Luke 20: 38

38. For he is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him.

39. Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said.

40. And after that they durst not ask him any question at all.

Luke 20:46-47

46. Beware of the scribes, which desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief rooms at feasts;

47. Which devour widows’ houses, and for a shew make long prayers: the same shall receive greater damnation.

The Gospel according to John

John 3:3&5:

3. Jesus answered and said unto Him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.

5. Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

John 3:14-21:

14. And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

15. That whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have eternal life.

16. For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

17. For God sent not His Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through Him might be saved.

18. He that believeth on Him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

19. And this the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

20. For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, his deeds should be reproved.

21. But he that doeth truth cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

John 3:36:

He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life: and he that believeth not the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 4:14:

But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.

John 5:21:

For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth; whom He will.

John 5:24:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 5:25:

Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.

John 5:28-29:

28. Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,

29. And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.

John 10:28:

I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

31. Because he hath appointed a day, in the which he will judge the world in righteousness by that man whom he hath ordained; whereof he hath given assurance unto all men, in that he hath raised him from the dead.

32. And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some mocked: and others said, We will hear thee again of this matter.

Acts 23:6-9:

6. But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men and brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: of the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question.

7. And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided.

8. For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both.

9. And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

14. But this I confess unto thee,  that after the way which they call heresy, so worship I the God of my fathers, believing all things which are written in the law and the prophets:

6. And now I stand and am judged for the hope of the promise made of God, unto our fathers:

7. Unto which promise our twelve tribes, instantly serving God day and night, hope to come. For which hope's sake, king Agrippa, I am accused of the Jews.

8. Why should it be thought a thing incredible with you, that God should raise the dead?

The Epistle of Paul to the Romans

Romans 1:18-19:

8. But unto them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, indignation and wrath,

9. Tribulation and anguish, upon every soul of man that doeth evil, of the Jew first, and also the Gentile:

Romans 9:22-24:

22. What if God, willing to shew his wrath, and to make his power known, endured with much longsuffering the vessels of wrath fitted to destruction:

24. Even us, who he hath called, not of the Jews only, but also of the Gentiles?

5. And spared not the old world, but saved Noah the eighth person, a preacher of righteousness, bringing in the flood upon the world of the ungodly;

6. And turning the cities of Sodom and Gommorah into ashes condemned them with an overthrow, making them and ensample unto those that after should live ungodly;

7. And delivered just Lot, vexed with the filthy conversation of the wicked:

8. (For that righteous man dwelling among them, in seeing and hearing, vexed his righteous soul from day to day with their unlawful deeds;)

12. But these brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

13. And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own decievings while they feast with you;

14. Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: and heart they have excercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

15. Which have forsaken the right way, and are gone astray, following the way of Balaam the son of Bosor, who loved the wages of unrighteousness;

2 Peter 3:8-12:

8. But beloved be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day.

9. The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some might count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

10. But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up.

11. Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

12. Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

13. Nevertheless we, according to His promise look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

And looked, and behold a pale horse: and his name that sat on it was Death, and Hell followed with him.  And power was given to them over a fourth part of the earth, to kill with the sword, and with hunger, and with death, and with the beasts of the earth.

Revelation 6:14&17:

14. And the heaven departed as a scroll when it rolled together; and every mountain and island were moved out of their places.

17. For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

Revelation 9:4:

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those which have not the seal of God in their foreheads.

Revelation 11:7:

And when they shall have finished their testimony, the beast that ascended out of the bottomless pit shall make war against them, and shall overcome them, and kill them.

Revelation 11:18:

And the nations were angry, and thy wrath is come, and the time of the dead, that they should be judged, and that thou shouldest give reward unto thy servants the prophets, and to the saints, and them that fear thy name, small and great; and shouldest destroy them which destroy the earth.

Revelation 14:9-11:

9. And the third angel following them, saying with a loud voice, If any man worship the beast and his image, and receive his mark in his forehead, or in his hand,

10. The same shall drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out without mixture into the cup of His indignation: and he shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb:

11.  And the smoke of their torment ascendeth up for ever and ever: and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whosoever recieveth the mark of his name.

Revelation 19:11-16  Very important also: 19-20:

11. And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war.

12. His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself.

13. And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood : and his name is called The Word of God.

14. And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses,  clothed in fine linen, white and clean.

15. And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations : and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God.

16. And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written,  KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS...

19. And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army.

20. And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him,  with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image.

These both were cast alive into the lake of fire burning with brimstone.

Revelation 20:

(The Entire Chapter is of absolute importance.)

1.  And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

2. And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

3. And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

4. And I saw thrones, and they sat upon them, and judgment was given unto them: and I saw the souls of them that were beheaded for the witness of Jesus, and for the word of God, and which had not worshipped the beast, neither his image, neither had received his mark upon their foreheads, or in their hands; and they lived and reigned with Christ a thousand years.

5. But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

6. Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

7. And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

8. And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog, and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

9. And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

10. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

11. And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

12. And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

13. And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

14. And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

15. And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation 21:8&27:

8. But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerors, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

27. And there shall in no wise enter into it any thing that defileth, neither whatsoever worketh abomination, or maketh a lie; but they which are written in the Lamb’s book of life.

Revelation 22:12–15:

12. And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be.

13.  I am Alpha and Omega the beginning and the end, the first and the last.

14.  Blessed are they that do his commandments,  that they may have right to the tree of life,  and may enter in through the gates of the city.

15. For without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and whosoever loveth and maketh a lie.

Detailed Explanatory Notes of the Chart

Where do the lost go when they die?

(Click here to go to the Chart)

“Marvel not at this; for the hour is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear His voice, and shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.” John 5:28&29 – These are the words of the Lord Jesus Christ.

INTRODUCTION

I realize that there are many who have written on this subject, however none have written better than those who first received them from God. (By this I mean the sixty-six books that are contained in the Bible.)

 I in no way abide the teachers of our time who are gradually slipping away from a complete and childlike devotion to the scriptures, extracting moral laws and theological principles and thereby adding to the preaching of Christ and Him crucified. {the power of God unto salvation}

Where I have quoted words of songs, or segments from other authors and obviously my own thoughts, I ask you to please weigh them in the light of scripture; and hold on to what is good.

Please read Revelation Chapter 20, prior to examining my notes and the accompanying chart – “Where do the lost go when they die?” This will give you a far greater understanding of some of the things I have tried to explain in the simplest way I could.

The following Chapter is from a book written by one of the Apostles of Jesus in about AD 90.  It is agreed that the author was none other than John, the beloved disciple of Jesus who was imprisoned on the Isle of Patmos because of the testimony of Jesus.

And I saw an angel come down from heaven, having the key of the bottomless pit and a great chain in his hand.

And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, which is the Devil, and Satan, and bound him a thousand years,

And cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: and after that he must be loosed a little season.

But the rest of the dead lived not again until the thousand years were finished. This is the first resurrection.

Blessed and holy is he that hath part in the first resurrection: on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God and of Christ, and shall reign with him a thousand years.

And when the thousand years are expired, Satan shall be loosed out of his prison,

And shall go out to deceive the nations which are in the four quarters of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to battle: the number of whom is as the sand of the sea.

And they went up on the breadth of the earth, and compassed the camp of the saints about, and the beloved city: and fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them.

And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.

And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged out of those things which were written in the books, according to their works.

And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works.

And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.

Revelation Chapter 20

Everything on the chart revolves around the Cross of Jesus.

The area upon which the Cross stands is representative of earth’s history from creation to the Cross and from the Cross to the end.

(CREATION – JESUS – THE END)

The chart has five tunnels/wormholes that lead upwards from this area.  As this chart deals with activity past, present and future within the spiritual realm, the location is not static, but eternal and therefore: up might well be down and vise-versa.

TUNNEL #1

The lost who died before Jesus came

Above the word creation, is a tunnel or wormhole that leads to Hades/Sheol

Whenever someone died during this period, their bodies would be buried in so many different ways. (a shallow grave, a tomb, or a pyramid etc.)

God has always revealed His will to mankind throughout our Earth’s History in the Old Testament, whether by angelic visitation, miraculous signs, through the mouth of the prophets, or by direct speech.

So many were spoken directly to by God.  Like Moses in the burning bush, and Abraham, and David, and the prophets, I mention but a few. As well as Elijah, Isaiah and Jeremiah, and right up to and including John the Baptist.

God is not silent.  God has never been silent.

He not only speaks to leaders and prophets and Kings, but He speaks to all. (Whether they lived in remote parts of the Earth, miles from Abraham, Moses, King David or Solomon or John the Baptist, in places as remote as Tibet or the Amazon Jungles)

Not all are willing to listen, and even fewer believe and do what He says.

As in the Bible story of Jonah, who was spoken to by God and told to deliver a message but instead refused and disobeyed God, only to find himself in the belly of a whale being dispatched to the shore of the place he was meant to be going to.

God’s Word, the Bible shows us that God, is not silent, that He clearly reveals His will to each and every man, woman and child - throughout Earth’s History, before Jesus came to Earth.

This would also include anyone who might not have lived in proximity to any of these revelations, but instead had the testimony of the things created*, upon which the Holy Spirit would have convicted them of the existence of God and there need to believe in Him. He has never failed to reach out to us, and to speak to us.

God is not silent; He has always spoken to us.

*Romans 1:20, sums this up very nicely:

‘For the invisible things of Him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:’

Jesus describes this place in the story about the rich man and Lazarus. It is a place of torments and those who are there will never be released, only when they have to appear before the Judgment throne of God, to be punished for their ungodliness and unrighteousness.

‘For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold* the truth in unrighteousness. Romans 1:18
(*Gk. Katecho: “hold back” or “restrain”)

In the end, it is completely up to God as to exactly who goes into Hades/Sheol.

‘But we are sure that the judgment of God is according to truth against them which commit such things.’ Roman 2:2

The Judgment (The Great White Throne)

Now if you look above Hades/Sheol you will see what represents the throne of God.  I got the idea for the artwork from the book of Revelation. (Revelation 4)

Those who were placed in Hades/Sheol, during the time period between the beginning of creation and the time just preceding the complete work of Jesus’ death on the Cross, will have to wait until the very end to be judged.

If you look below you will see a place that looks almost the same as the Hades/Sheol, however it is much larger, and is called the Lake of Fire. (Gehenna/Tophet)

Those who have been placed in Sheol/Hades during the above mentioned period of waiting are in indescribable agony, desperation and suffering. (torments)

There are inadequate images to describe the abject awfulness that awaits them in the Lake of Fire, that will follow the final Judgment of God upon sinners.

However, these cannot go into this place until the last ungodly person has died and the end has come.

It seems from (Revelation 20:6-10) that this Judgment will take place:-

After the 1000 years of peace while Jesus reigns on Earth.

After the release of Satan from his 1000 years of imprisonment is the Abyss.

After Satan led his army against the saints and the beloved city.

After Satan was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone,

along with the beast and the false prophet.

The description of this Judgment is very clearly expressed in the following passages of Scripture. (all these are upon the Chart)

‘And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.’ Revelation 20:11 – 15

It is important to note, this most despicable place Hades/Sheol is finally cast into the Lake of Fire, along with death, for now all the dead have been resurrected, and death and it’s vile sting has taken all of mankind from Earth, except those who were translated, or caught up.

TUNNEL #2

 Abraham’s Bosom / Paradise 1

There is another wormhole or tunnel that goes from the area between Creation and Jesus and leads to a place that is called Abraham’s Bosom

Abraham’s descendants were to be ‘so many as the stars of the sky in multitude, and as the sand which is by the sea shore innumerable.’  They are mentioned in Hebrews Chapter 11.

In Hebrews Chapter 11:6; after the description of Enoch who was translated and went straight to Paradise without dying, we learn about what exactly it is that pleases God.

‘But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him.’  Hebrews 11:6

From the beginning of Creation, this has always been the only way that we can please God.

In the story of Lazarus and the rich man; Jesus explains that Lazarus is no longer suffering like he had done while he was on Earth.

‘But Abraham said, Son, remember that thou in thy lifetime receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.’  Luke 16:25

There is a chasm between the two places, not drawn on the chart. There seems to be a strong possibility that this is the doorway to the Abyss, where Satan will be bound for a 1000 years during that corresponding period of the Reign of Jesus on Earth, and where certain strange winged creatures dwell, who are released to punish mankind. (Mentioned in the Book of Revelation)

So those in Abraham’s bosom, were resident until the time that Jesus ascended and led captivity captive, emptying all from this place.  They with Jesus ascended and are now living in a section of heaven, I have called Paradise 2, until the Lord Jesus Christ returns to earth.

I believe they are living there very peacefully at rest in very awesome surroundings, exchanging words that cannot be uttered. As some have inferred that Abraham’s Bosom is now empty, I would prefer to believe that Abraham was brought into the heavenly realm by Jesus and hence all who were in His bosom.  Sort of like a serious upgrade.

It is my personal belief that the light of God is what permeates this place. Seriously, this is in Heaven, it has got to be magnificent.  Words fail me. Many have tried to describe this place, and the adjectives are so many that the point is eventually lost.

To be in Heaven or in paradise is to be at home with the Lord.

After my father had died, I was very sad and began to pray constantly for his soul.  I believed somehow I could assist him to a better place with these prayers.

(Prayers for the dead will in no way help them, and is a futile practice)

Eventually, exhausted and broken hearted, having said many stupid things to God, I let go. He had been a devout Freemason, a Grand Master of his lodge.  My worries were certainly justified.

Some years later I was dreaming very deeply and imagined I was walking with him in a place that resembled some of the photographs I have seen of England.  I remember looking up to him in the same way I know I felt when I was about three. It was amazing. He told me this was his home and he was very happy.

As I awoke, his spirit was still in the room, well it felt like that.  I was sobbing and tears were streaming down my face. Gradually his spirit seemed to vanish to the top corner of my roof.

I had a little relief from this dream, and perhaps our Heavenly Father had seen fit to let me learn that my Dad was safe.

I do not believe that Freemasons have rights to heaven based on their Order. (Refer: Free Masonary- on this site.) However, as I was protected from witnessing my father’s death and the terrible weakness that overcame him prior to that, I was unable to know if he has made a confession of faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

All I was told was that he was holding onto a tiny kite which he had made for me, when I was a very young child.  The kite was barely intact, the frame was sure and that was in the shape of a cross.  I can only hope that he came to understand the bigger cross where the King of Glory gave His body and shed His blood to atone for our sins.

Communicating with the dead, in the way that many modern spirit mediums and occult practitioners do is strictly discouraged by the Scriptures (Refer: Witchcraft – on this site)

King Saul did this and was severely reprimanded and punished for his foolishness.

We should not tamper where angels fear to tread.

The words of this song from Larry Norman’s first solo Gospel Album called “Upon this Rock” nicely closes this section:-

Forget your hexagram you’ll soon feel fine

Stop looking at the stars

You don’t live under the signs

Don’t mess with gypsies

Or have your fortune read

Keep your table on the floor

And don’t you listen to the dead

You can’t hitchhike your way to Heaven

The Devil’s closed the roads

You live once and you die once with no

Re-incarnate episodes

You can’t hitchhike to Heaven

Or get there by just being good

The rules were set down long ago

When the spikes went in the wood

TUNNEL #3:

The Cross of Jesus

I have made a difference between Abraham’s Bosom, and Paradise.  One could call Abraham’s Bosom Paradise 1.

I just prefer to keep these two different, calling the place where those who were saved prior to Jesus coming to Earth, as Abraham’s Bosom (referred to in the story of the rich man and Lazarus), referred to in my notes as, Paradise 1.

I refer to the suburb of Heaven, as Paradise 2: The place where those who were taken out of Abraham’s Bosom by Jesus, at His ascension, to await the return of Jesus and the reconstitution of their bodies which are still remain in the grave. (On the chart I only refer to Paradise + Abraham’s Bosom)….I hope this is not to confusing.  The Scriptures should clear things up. As they always do.

Whichever way one looks at it, the people who lived a life that was pleasing to God*, and who were open to Him prior to Jesus’ death, resurrection and ascension are now at rest and at peace in the suburb of heaven, which I call Paradise 2, awaiting for the Return of Jesus

*As previously explained, and more clearly understood by reading through Hebrews Chapter 11, with specific attention to verse 1 and verse 6.

1. Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

6. But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that  He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. Hebrews 11:1&6

Turning from one’s own ego driven existence and placing one’s trust completely on Jesus Christ for Salvation, is all that brings pleasure to God.

Paul, the servant of Jesus Christ put it even simpler when he describes the power of God unto Salvation to all who believe:-

‘For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.

For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.’  Romans 1:16, 17

Do not be misled saying, ‘I believe in God, or even I believe in Jesus,’ this is not enough.

Faith needs to be accompanied by genuine ‘godly sorrow’ which will lead one to accurate ‘repentance.’  So much of what is passed of these days as Salvation has completely left out genuine repentance from sin.

My eldest son Joshua who has just turned fifteen, asked me this question which nicely addressed the issue.

“Dad what does this mean; godly sorrow cleanses the soul.”

In the New Testament the same phrase appears, though more precisely.

‘For godly sorrow worketh repentance to salvation not to be repented of: but the sorrow of the world worketh death.’ (2 Corinthians 7:10)

Jesus had risen from the dead and come to His eleven disciples in Jerusalem, where He gave very specific instructions as to what was to be preached.

‘Then opened He their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures,

And said unto them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.  (Luke 24:45-47)

Jesus lifts up the standard, and places repentance as the fundamental step to be taken.

but, except ye repent, ye shall all likewise perish.  Luke 13:3

Metanoein, is a Greek verb ‘to repent’ and has one definite meaning.

New Testament Greek, classical Greek and even throughout the history of the Greek language the meaning of repentance is always the same:

“to change one’s mind”

You can go through religious rituals, recite prayers and even weep and sob your heart out, but that is not repentance in the scriptural sense.

‘But we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousnesses are as filthy rags; and we all do fade as a leaf; and our iniquities, like the wind, have taken us away.’ (Isaiah 64:6)

The clearest way of expressing the meaning of repentance in the Classical New Testament sense is:

An inner change of mind resulting in an outward turning back, or turning around; to face and to move in a completely new direction.

Our efforts at trying to be good, are pointless for they do not constitute real repentance.

When a man or woman repents, this comes from a miracle by God’s free and sovereign grace, whereby one is led to true repentance.  Anything short of this will be merely ‘filfthy rags in the nostrils of Almighty God.’

Apart from the working of God’s grace and the moving of God’s spirit, man left to himself is incapable of repentance.

The first move is always made by God.  Without this it is basically religion and will not grant the individual any salvation.  No matter how religious one may be, without this kind of miraculous change inside one, there will be no entrance granted to the Kingdom of Heaven.

Jesus expresses this fact very simply, in John 6:44

‘No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.’

(Ideas for this exposition on repentance were taken from “The Spirit Filled Believer’s Handbook’ by Derek Prince)

TUNNEL #4

Directly to Paradise / Paradise 2

There is a fourth wormhole/tunnel that leads from the time period from Jesus’ cross to the end.

This tunnel leads directly to Heaven, specifically the Paradise that is a suburb of Heaven which I have called Paradise 2.

This pathways shows the journey of those who have come to faith in Jesus and have fallen asleep (a term the Apostle Paul uses to describe the believers death) their bodies which are in the grave will be resurrected to the Lord at His return. This is referred to in the New Testament, as the first-fruits.

I firmly believe that the exact date of Jesus’ return is kept a secret because our only real focus should be on Jesus and the completed work of the Cross.

‘For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and Him crucified.’  1 Corinthians 2:2

Then we who are alive upon the earth at this time who are disciples of Jesus, shall be caught up, snatched, as a thief in the night, with all those who had been in paradise 2 and we shall ascend to be with Jesus as He is returning, and evermore shall we be with Him.

At this point Satan who had deceived the nations will be cast into the abyss for a thousand years. Simultaneously their will be a  reign of peace upon the earth with Jesus Christ our Lord, the King of Kings and Alpha and Omega.

When Satan is released from the Abyss, he will gather an army and will then launch an attack the Children of God, and the new Jerusalem, the Holy city. God will strike them with fire from heaven, in much the same way as He did when He destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah.

The heat was so intense that it turned the cities into ash.  Archeological digs in the areas referred to, have revealed much to confirm what is already revealed in the Scriptures concerning the fire and brimstone that was rained upon Sodom and Gomorrah. The intense heat seems to have turned the buildings instantly into ash.

Satan will then be cast into the Lake of Fire along with the beast and the false prophet.  The details of this are contained in Revelation Chapter 20. [Read this as it will really grant you an upper stadium view of what is to come in the future.]

TUNNEL #5

The ungodly who died between the Cross and the End

Now there is a fifth wormhole which receives those who have died having lived ungodly lives; specifically from the time of the Cross of Jesus until the end.

This will include all those who during the Great Tribulation (also not reflected on the chart), received the ‘mark of the beast.’ All who take this mark will be cast into the Lake of Fire along with Satan and all the fallen angels, the beast and the false prophet.

God alone has an inventory of this and it is up to Him ultimately whose names are included in the book of life, and whose names are not.

‘Therefore hath He mercy on whom He will have mercy, and whom He will He hardeneth.’ Romans 9:18

Those who are taken into Hades/Sheol and along with those who are already there will have to wait until the end.

The end will come and with it the Great White Throne Judgment referred to in Revelation 20.  All who have come from Hades/Sheol to the Judgment Seat, will then be cast into Gehenna or the Lake of Fire.

The passages describing this place on the chart, are terrible. All who are cast into this place will remain there forever and ever.

As I listened one afternoon to “Sinners in the hands of an angry God,” by Jonathan Edwards there was a section where he described how as useless as a spider web is, in restraining a falling rock, so useless are our own righteousness (personal goodness), in keeping us out of the Lake of Fire.

When I first listened to the tape by Mary K. Baxter titled, ‘A divine revelation of Hell’ – I was startled by the graphic depictions of the horrible anguish and helplessness that souls experienced in that terrible place.  The torments and the remorse at not having responded to the Saviour’s call while they were alive, the absolute loneliness and grief that so many felt as they cried out to be soothed, the awful state that these men and women who walked away when eternal life and a glorious resurrection as a child of God were offered, as a gift, lead me to only one conclusion:

No-one in there right mind would want to go to a place like that.

Jesus’ describes the punishment in the afterlife in ways that leave us with no doubt that it is final, eternal and infernal.

I could say more, but I do not want to frighten you.

If you are convinced your life fits this profile and you are scared and do not know what to do.

There is wonderful news you need to know.

J    e    s    u    s        L    o    v    e    s        Y    o    u ,

He wants you to turn to Him, He alone is the one who can deliver you from this terrible pathway that ends in the Lake of Fire, but more He wants to cleanse you from the sin that places you under the wrath of God.

If you have heard Him calling to your heart, please respond by repenting of your sin and asking Him to be your Saviour. He was sacrificed for your  sin, He is the only One who is able to forgive and cleanse you.  No psychiatrist, or psychologist, can achieve this for you. Only the blood that was shed on the Cross can cleanse you and save you. No amount of good behaviour will suffice, only what He accomplished for us in His death, resurrection and ascension to the right hand of the Father, can stay the judgment of God.

I remember how for so many years I had heard Him calling me. How at first I began putting Him off saying, “Later Lord, I am really busy trying to sort out my life.”  Or some crazy excuse just to put off responding to His call.

Eventually, my life, as is the way of all flesh, went from bad to worse and in a Navy prison after hitting rock-bottom I surrendered to His saving grace. He has completely changed my life.

I remember just bursting with the love and wanting to tell every soul on earth that there was hope and peace and all the things they are searching for in Jesus.

There is an old hymn that I sing from time to time that really sums up my position, the chorus goes like this.

Love lifted me, love lifted me

When nothing else could help

Love lifted me

(by James Row and Howard E. Smith)

Dear lost one,

You have clearly learned that there is life after death, and though your body will stay behind,  you will have to go to Hades or Sheol to await the final Judgment at which time your body will be resurrected and you shall then receive your judgement from God and be cast into the Lake of Fire This does not have to be so.

Should you respond to the call of God our Saviour -  the Lord Jesus Christ by repenting and asking Him to forgive you and wash you in His blood, you shall receive the gift of Eternal Life and not have to go to a place as terrible as described in the following verse:-

‘The Son of man shall send forth His angels, and they shall gather out of His kingdom all things that offend, and them which do iniquity; And shall cast them into the furnace of fire: there shall be wailing and gnashing of teeth.’ Matthew 13:41&42

There are many passages referred to upon the Chart that describe the terrible torments of the Lake of Fire, as revealed in the Scriptures.

When I started researching this very serious subject, I was told that I would not really find much evidence.  I am confident to admit, that if I was an archeologist and was searching for proof of the existence of Hades/Sheol or Gehenna/Tophet, even though I have only been there once in a horrible dream, there is more than enough evidence in the scriptures that accurately and precisely describe these places as being real.

It is with this in mind that I offer you my own personal warning.

Do not allow yourself to be duped into following the modern trend of rejecting the truth of God’s Word, about these horrible places.  They are most definitely real, and God has created them to punish the evil-doers, the godless and those who have lived under the yoke of iniquity, and have not surrendered to the Lord God.

Whereas, there are caverns in the corridors of Hades/Sheol, that are inhabited by many a troubled soul, awaiting the Judgment and banishment to Gehenna = The Lake of Fire; there are things that are too beautiful to describe in human words that await those whose names are written in the Book of Life. As Jesus says:-

‘In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.’   (John 14:2)

Eternal Life in the Kingdom of God

‘Then shall the righteous shine forth as the sun

in the kingdom of their Father.

Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.’

(Matthew 13:43)

The section entitled; Eternal Life in the Kingdom of God upon the chart, which points to a place that is so beautifully described in Betty Maltz’s book, ‘My Glimpse of Eternity’, is where I discovered the artistic ideas for my depiction of the heavenly habitations.

There is much that I have not covered here, such as the reward of believers at the judgment seat of Jesus, or details of Heaven and how glorious it shall be, because I wanted to answer the very important question, Where do the lost go when they die?

You may still be chasing after the thrills that this life has to offer, and there are certainly many of them, even though most of them are over before they begin.  If you took every experience of this life and rolled them all together into one final rollercoaster ride, sort of the ultimate thrill they would not even compare to one zillionth of a second in the presence of Jesus.

It is my saddest moment when I learn of friends who have died, and have never once allowed the precious name of Jesus to pass across their lips, except only when they had blasphemed His name.

He is reaching out to you with loving hands that were pierced through for you, and calling to your heart.

If you can hear Him, you know what you have to do.

Just do it.

Let Him in.

Thank you, my wonderful wife for spending time checking the text for spelling and grammatical errors, of which there were many.  May what He has written be a lamp unto your path, and a light unto your feet.

Finally, thank you Dave for the time and effort that you have spent preparing this huge work for the Internet.  The Lord of Glory, shine His light upon you and give you rest.
