NEW AGE SCRIPTURE TWISTING

At this crucial time in our human history, there are issues erupting, all over the globe, which involve: Accuracy of The Truth, as taught in the Word of God (the Holy Scriptures, the Bible)! To explain this subject more completely, here is a major, rapidly-developing problem, currently arising more & more.

Sometimes I think folks inadvertently post something on the net somewhere, or speak it in their familiar, day-to-day surroundings, which could be misconstrued by others, as a "new-age movement" (NAM) statement. At this time, I am Feeling Strongly that we, as Christian Believers, should reveal & warn others of infiltrating new-age teachings that are creeping into the Christian church family. I honestly feel that some folks are truly unaware of any new-age slant in certain statements that they make.

Examples of typical new-age statements:

  • "all is God & God is all"

  • "we are gods"

  • "we are a manifestation of God"

  • "we are an incarnation of God"

  • "we are The Word"

  • "we are little Jesus' ", etc...

New-age doctrines which I have spotted, which use & twist the Biblical Scriptures are as follows: (Classic Texts used):

"For in him we live, and move, and have our being" Acts 17:28a

"That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world" John 1:9

"Ye are the light of the world.", Luke17:21b

"The Kingdom of God is within you" Matthew 5:14a

 Jesus answered them, "Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?" John 10:34

"For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him" Colossians 1:16

"And the King shall answer and say unto them, Verily I say unto you, Inasmuch as ye have done it unto one of the least of these my brethren, ye have done it unto me". These are some of the major ones. Matthew 25:14


The new-age premise is this: "We are evolving gods" (taken as a shoot-off from the theory of evolution). The spin-off on these verses is this; New Age doctrine says to seek the God within, saying that since all have been lightened, we only have to seek the God within & become aware that He is already there. Yet Jesus said:

"Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again."!!!  John 3:7

Also, the Bible clearly states that WE ARE NOT GOD! As shown in the following verses: 

                     
"Now the Egyptians are men, AND NOT GOD (emphasis, mine); and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together." Isaiah 31:3

"And upon a set day Herod, arrayed in royal apparel, sat upon his throne, and made an oration unto them."  Acts 12:21

"And the people gave a shout, saying, It is the voice OF A GOD, and NOT OF A MAN" (emphasis, mine). Acts 12:22

"And immediately the angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory: and he was eaten of worms, and gave up the ghost." Acts 12:23

"And when the people saw what Paul had done, they lifted up their voices, saying in the speech of Lycaonia, THE GODS are come down to us IN THE LIKENESS OF MEN." (emphasis, mine). Acts 14:14

"Which when the apostles, Barnabas and Paul, heard of, they rent their clothes, and ran in among the people, crying out," Acts 14:14

"And saying, Sirs, why do ye these things? WE ALSO ARE MEN (emphasis, mine) of like passions with you, and preach unto you that ye should turn from these vanities unto the living God, which made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and all things that are therein."  Acts 14:15


Also, (Albert Barnes' notes on the Bible) has this to say about John 10:34):

In your law - Psalm 82:6. The word “law” here, is used to include the Old Testament. I said - The Psalmist said, or God said by the Psalmist.

Ye are gods - This was said of magistrates on account of the dignity and honor of their office, and it shows that the Hebrew word translated “god,” ?????  `elohiym, in that place might be applied to man. Such a use of the word is, however, rare. See instances in Exo_7:1; Exo_4:16. Joh_10:35

Unto whom the word of God came - That is, who were his servants, or who received their dignity and honor only because the law of God was entrusted to them. “The Word of God” here means the command of God; his commission to them to do justice.

The scripture cannot be broken - See Mat_5:19. The authority of the Scripture is final; it cannot be set aside. The meaning is, “If, therefore, the Scripture uses the word “god” ?????  `elohiym as applied to magistrates, it settles the question that it is right to apply the term to those in office and authority. If applied to them, it may be to others in similar offices. It cannot, therefore, be blasphemy to use this word as applicable to a personage so much more exalted than mere magistrates as the Messiah.” (END)

On another scripture, Mat 25:40, some say that doing something unto Jesus, means that the person being assisted IS Jesus. New Age doctrine teaches that since God created everything, & is omnipresent, He is therefore IN EVERYTHING, therefore, EVERYTHING IS GOD (pantheism), since it is "OF" God! Yet the verse in Col 1:16 says: "by" and "for", NOT "OF". New Agers teach to seek the God WITHIN US ALL!!! They teach that the Kingdom of God IS WITHIN US ALL!!! But Jesus said:

John 14:17 "Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and SHALL BE IN YOU (emphasis, mine).", referring to the born-again experience to come!!! When New-Agers refer to "being THE LIGHT", they are indicating that THEY ARE GOD, SINCE THEY THINK "EVERYTHING IS GOD"!!!

Please PRAY as I continue to do battle in the Holy Spirit against this encroaching "new-age-stance" that it seems as though all too many Christians appear to have fallen prey to. As bad as this particular problem seems to be getting, it is almost like this marching battle is gathering itself into one of the most rapidly-forming, & dangerous-to-the soul...battles...on the planet!!! So I covet your Prayers.....as I STAND.....for TRUTH.....& JESUS CHRIST (YAHSHUA).....IS THAT TRUTH!!!!!!! Amen, saints!!!!!  

In conclusion, it is so very sad to observe that: It seems to be all-too-easy for those with repeated or frequent exposure to New-Age themes (which seems almost unavoidable these days!), to all-too-readily accept...  
   
THE AGE-OLD-TEMPTATION - "YE SHALL BE AS GODS"
