TIRED OF POLITICIANS?
LOOK INTO JESUS!

This particular page has been up for almost two years. In that time I have received a few hateful letters from who I believe are well meaning patriotic people. Evidently, they have taken what is written below as an insult. By writing the article it is not my intent to talk people out of voting or getting politically active. It is my intent however to warn people not to turn their political activities into a religion. It is also my intent to show people that God is in control of everything and that faith in Him is far more satisfying and has many more advantages than trusting the political systems that man has instituted here on Earth.

Before we start, I want the reader to know that I used to be a very political person. Because I am a practicing Christian, I naturally take a conservative view of life and politics. I tried to mix Christianity and politics, which cannot be blended through any process. You see, when the founding fathers formed this country, with the help of the Almighty, most of the populace of the land were Bible believing Christians. Therefore, laws were enacted and politicians were elected without much trouble. In contemporary times, America has splintered into many different factions and the majority of Americans don't follow God, let alone know who He is. Because people love themselves more than God, it is nearly impossible to have proper laws enacted or Godly people elected to office because the majority of people vote for what is good for them, not necessarily what is good for the country.

So, why do I vote? Well, if a person ignores the state of the nation and refuses to vote, they are worse than the people trying to destroy it. I find solace in the knowledge that at least I am trying to do something to make things better. Also, it is important to keep whoever is elected in prayer because God can turn things around to suit His will. But I still refuse to let politics become a religion again. Now, on to the politics religion.

This page used to be a very political page. The reason why I have changed this page is because I really don't see any hope in the Political System of The United States, or any other earthly political system. It is quite evident to me, especially after the Clinton Impeachment debacle, that the system is there only to protect those in office and the rich. The will of the American people is basically ignored and subverted by a very liberal press. Basically, I knew about the corrupt government and media base, but had foolishly hoped that justice might prevail if enough people said something about it. Well, a lot of people did speak out against our supposed leader and still nothing happened. I mean, we got to see a wonderful show in Congress and the Senate, but it was just that, a show. I apologize to anyone whom I had given possible hope to. I see now that any president will never be impeached, especially when he/she has sympathizers in office or those who should stand for truth who only care about their employment status.

You see, there are too many of us (yes, I include myself) who have made politics into a religion. There are many parallels to religion too. In politics you have a good and evil. In my case, the Republicans were good and the Democrats were evil. It took me a long time to realize that they are all evil and trying to achieve the same goal by taking different roads. In the political religion people use the polling place as a prayer booth, each hoping that their ideology will win. In the political religion people have many gods, some greater and some lesser; their election hopefuls.

The problem with the Politic Religion is that there are too many ups and downs. The good things that might be done by one of the factions can be reversed and decimated by the other side when they get elected. There never seems to be any closure and anxiety waits around the corner all of the time. For me this was too much to handle. Life has enough problems and anxieties to have to cope with the Politics Religion.

The common denominator in the Politic Religion is the Human Being. Of all of the creatures of God's creation, man is the most innovative and crafty. Man has the ability to destroy and create, to corrupt and refine and to love and hate. Man was a special creation, given all of these abilities by it's creator. Through His love, God gave man a free will. Man is able to choose between good and evil. He can wake up in the morning and say "although I want to do evil today, I choose to do good." With all of the creativeness and innovativeness that man has it is still a very weak creation. The best person that you know; the most holy person that you can think of are totally capable of falling on their faces by way of temptation or lust. I am not just talking about sexual temptation or lust, but the lust for money and the lust for power. If the devil tempted Jesus do you think that mere people are immune?

When people get elected to office in the Politic Religion they enter a system most corrupt. Many enter the system being evil already and thrive in that evil. Others, enter with good intentions but soon those intentions fall by the wayside as they are compromised or seduced by lust for money and power. Basically, if the system doesn't get you through your lust, they will set you up and offer to keep quiet if you play by the game. Then of course if that doesn't work, they take the ultimate step and put you six feet under.

A wise man once said "power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely." So you see, any honest politician enters the arena with the cards stacked against him/her. The domino effect comes into full play after that. It goes from "what can I do for my constituents," to "what can I do for myself," to "this is a great place to be, how can I stay here."

So, seeing that the Political Religion corrupts it's victims, why do so many constituents flock to it. Basically, it is because you want the guy that is on your side to win so that you can have the quality of life that you like. There is nothing wrong with that as that is every human's aspiration. The trouble is that you might get a little of that quality of life that you want to attain, but at a price. The price is higher taxes or perhaps being compromised in what you were promised. For instance, you drive a certain way to work every day. There is however a nasty pothole that you always seem to run over. You complain about the pothole and it gets fixed. But did you realize that the politicians tacked another penny on the gasoline tax for every dollar of gas that you buy? Then there is the sales tax that you have to pay when you take your car in for a front end alignment.

As another example we will look at the earthquake tax that we got stuck with here in California. Back in the 1980's we had a couple of earthquakes that did a fair amount of damage. To pay for that damage we were given a increase in our sales tax. It was to pay for fixing the roads and such. Well, it is now 1999, and the roads are all fixed, but the tax remains. It was so easy to implement the tax, but it has been all but forgotten and every person in this state just pays it without question. The examples are endless of how our wonderful legislators take us to the cleaners, all on the premise of doing good. I guess that we are to blame though because no one stands up and says anything about it.

Some people believe in the stock market. To them, making money on the big board is security. They count on that medium for their future security and to attain the finer things in life. Well, so did the investors before 1929. It is interesting how that time parallels our time. The market took great leaps and bounds. Americans became prideful, saying, "look at our wealth and prosperity, nothing can stop it now." I imagine that many of these people were the same people who leaped from buildings or shot themselves after October 29, 1929. There will be another stock market crash!! It is important to remember that everything that we have can be lost in a matter of minutes, including our lives.

One might ask, "who is a person to trust?" That is a very good question to ask. People are hard to trust because once you do start to trust them they let you down. You can't trust the government and you sure as heck can't trust those we put in office to run the machine. Honest people will admit that they can't even trust themselves because after all, we are all hypocrites. You can't trust the stock market, for obvious reasons. You can't trust the news media because they are only out to make money and to bolster their allies in government. Is there anyone that you can totally trust? Is there anything that is rock solid?

There is only one person who is trustworthy. There is only one person who knows you better than you know yourself. There is only one person who hates dishonesty in government more than you do. His name is Jesus and He loves you. Before you were even born he knew what sort of person you would be. He humbled himself and stepped down from heaven to see what humans actually had to go through. He experienced aches and pains. He felt the longing for love and acceptance. He experienced what it feels like to be downtrodden and belittled. He experienced first hand what government can do to its people. And with that, God Himself experienced what we go through.

God made a way out for us. He gave us someone that we can trust with our lives. Someone to help us know that things will turn out fine. And God knew that we could never approach Him because we were really dirty and unacceptable. We are hypocrites and even the best of us are as dirty rags compared to His perfection and majesty. It is sort of like we all are greasy and dirty and God's house has white walls and rugs. Were we ever to attain heaven looking like that we would soil heaven, and that just can't be. So, God sent Jesus to die for us. When Jesus was on the cross, He took all of that dirt and grime and washed clean everyone who would accept that washing. Imagine what He went through. For eternity He had fellowship with God. On the cross He took all of our sins upon himself, so much so that God couldn't look at him. For the first time in eternity He felt separation from God. He felt the separation that we all felt or would feel. Because He took all of that upon himself, he made it possible for everyone who would accept His sacrifice to be totally clean and acceptable to God.

Yes, Jesus really pulled our butts out of dire straits. God did not stop at there though. Sure, it is nice knowing that we are clean and acceptable to God in this life. What about after this life is over. Would we just sit six feet under and rot? God made extra provisions for that. He has promised that anyone would receive that washing would have the promise of eternal life, and a glorious resurrected body forever. Raising Jesus from the grave signed and sealed that promise. So, believing in Jesus and being washed whiter than snow also brings into the agreement the promise of living for eternity in perfect bliss and contentment.

So, those of you who were like I was, please consider what I have said. Your belief in the Political Religion will never satisfy you. Your Political Religion will only lead you on a roller coaster of discontent and disappointment. Consider that all societies have crumbled sooner or later and that though you might build a wonderful structure it will crumble and decay either by malice or corruption. Jesus however, is a rock that has withstood the worse storms and trials. He will never crumble and is rock solid. When this world finally ends, nothing will matter but Jesus. You can take that to the bank!
