In this portion of the "Days of Noah" series we will examine both ancient and modern gene manipulation. The whole premise of this text is a phrase that Yeshua (Jesus) mentioned to His disciples during one of their many teachings. The disciples had originally asked Yeshua what the signs would be of His second coming. Yeshua went into many things, but the teaching that we continue to examine is rooted in the following passage:

And as it was in the days of Noe, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. Luke 17:26

Many people just pass over this passage when they read it because it is sort of vague. This passage has always caught my eye; and one day, after listening to a recorded message about it I decided to do my own study on the matter. I did this because Yeshua was giving us a hint of what society will be like when He's about to return. So, like every good student, I got out my Bible and some other works that described what life was like before the great deluge destroyed the world. I don't know about you, but I want to know if our society belongs to the generation Yeshua said would exist at the time of His return; because if it is, we need to be ready to meet Him and help others to come to faith in Him before it's too late.

This study is broken up into several studies because there were distinct world situations at the time; and although they are all related to certain individuals who corrupted mankind through their rebellion toward God, and all the actions are interrelated, I felt that breaking them up into different documents would make reading easier for those visiting this site. This particular document deals with gene manipulation that occurred before the flood. Before you make any judgments, read the article. You might be surprised at what the Bible and some extra-Biblical works tell us about events before God destroyed the world with the deluge.

Pre-Flood Gene Manipulation:

We live in a wonderful but terrifying age. Science, in its true form has brought us wonderful things. Diseases that once decimated whole societies have been tamed and in some instances they have been obliterated. Modern conveniences have made our lives easier and our tasks simpler. Information, which a couple of centuries ago took weeks to reach people far away now can be accessed in just seconds. In just the space of one century the human lifespan in developed nations has doubled, so much so that someone who dies in their sixties is considered to have died young. Yes, we live in a marvelous age.

On the flip-side though there are many frightening things that our ancestors never dreamed of considering. Mankind has developed weapons that can destroy the entire world many times over. Some diseases have developed tolerances to the drugs that were made to prevent or cure them. Each year untold thousands are killed in the machines that have made life easy. Planes fall from the sky, automobiles strike other autos or pedestrians and the air is fouled by the emissions of the combustion engine. And though life tends to be longer, many of those who live to a ripe old age suffer long lingering deaths; wasting away in nursing homes or other places. To many, long life is a curse as they have to live with debilitating ailments like arthritis, neurological disorders and failing hearts, just to name a few.

Those who trust science also trust that there is a cure for all these ailments, and it's just around the corner. The trouble is that there are no side streets in sight. Many hold hope in the advances in gene manipulation which has shown little promise, at least at the present. Mankind in all its puffed up pride for itself thinks that it can someday solve all problems, but the sad reality is that their efforts are akin to giving a wrench to a two year old child and telling him or her to rebuild the family automobile's engine. Geneticist are fooling around with things that they hope will work, but at what cost? The future will hold successes in this area of research, but the authors won't be men themselves, but the knowledge that imparted from the unseen world.

We read in the newspapers or hear on the television news about some strange things that scientists are doing. One article last year told of some researcher growing a human ear on the back of a laboratory mouse. Still others are talking about growing human organs in domesticated farm animals. They rave about Dolly the sheep that was cloned successfully, but they don't mention that there were many failed attempts before Dolly became a reality. They also sweep under the carpet the fact that Dolly died at a very early age; having inherited "old genes" from the donor sheep. Now if what we hear about is hideous, what is happening in laboratories around the world that they keep from public attention. One can only wonder.

The question arises about some of the mythological creatures that the ancients have written about. As a matter of fact, questions have to be asked about all of the Greek and Roman gods. Where did the idea come from? Could societies of men, who excelled in so many scientific and social advances really make up so many fables and believe them like they were true? Could some of these stories be true? It is my contention that the stories of those Greek and Roman gods really were perversion of real events that happened millennia before those societies existed. I believe that they are holdovers from history of the world before the flood. For instance, the famous Titans from mythology were said to be the children made by unions between the gods and humans. The correlation between them and the Nephilim of Genesis and other books is just too close to ignore or dismiss. The Titans were just a Satanic perversion of the true Genesis story.

When I was a young man, attending intermediate school, we had to read a book called "The Iliad and The Odyssey. It was a book about Ulysses and the journeys that he took to mystical lands while trying to get home from a time of war. He meets strange characters like Medusa, who had snakes emanating from her head and who could turn men to stone. The book was fraught with strange characters like that. Greek mythology was full of mythical creatures. The minotaur for example had the head and tail of a bull but the body of a man. Pegasus was a horse who had wings. There was the centaur who was a man above the waist and a horse below the waste. Then there are mermaids and other creatures too numerous to list in this short document. Again, these are perversions of the actual accounts of the world in Noah's time.

Now the Bible isn't very specific about what actually happened to the animals during the time of Noah. It reads:

And the LORD said, I will destroy man whom I have created from the face of the earth; both man, and beast, and the creeping thing, and the fowls of the air; for it repenteth me that I have made them. Genesis 6:7

First, you'll notice that God says that He was going to destroy "man, whom I've created." No mention is made of the Nephilim, simply because they were dead by this time. But mankind had become so corrupted, both by their sinful nature and by the knowledge that they learned from the wicked angels and the Nephilim, that they were beyond redemption. God is just, and he knows when people have crossed the line that separates things salvageable from total decadence.

But next one has to ask about the animals. Why would a just God want to destroy all of the animals. Animals have no souls therefore they don't have the ability to sin. They can't deny God and they can't make any conscious choice to be disobedient. If it were only mankind that were evil God could just have easily created some sort of deadly virus that only effected humans. Being God, He could have given Noah, Noah's wife, his sons and their wives some immunity to the virus and wiped out all of the human race except those eight people. No, there was another insidious thing that he had to destroy.

Having done some research in the extra-biblical works from which I obtained copies a couple of years ago I have discovered that these books, although not authorized canon, do fill in some gaps and answer some questions that arise from reading Genesis chapter six. I've used some of those works in the preceding areas of this document to show how those gaps can be filled in and those questions answered.

And lawlessness increased on the earth and all flesh corrupted its way, alike men and cattle and beasts and birds and everything that walks on the earth -all of them corrupted their ways and their orders, and they began to devour each other, and lawlessness increased on the earth and every imagination of the thoughts of all men (was) thus evil continually. And God looked upon the earth, and behold it was corrupt, and all flesh had corrupted its orders, and all that were upon the earth had wrought all manner of evil before His eyes. And He said that He would destroy man and all flesh upon the face of the earth which He had created. Jubilees Chapter 5 verses 2-4

And in the Book of Jasher:

And their judges and rulers went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals. And the Lord said, I will blot out man that I created from the face of the earth, yea from man to the birds of the air, together with cattle and beasts that are in the field for I repent that I made them. Jasher 4:18-19

Now it is important to remember that this is after the Nephilim had slain each other. There was however the knowledge that the departed Nephilim and the fallen angels had imparted to mankind. These things had not been removed when the authors of such things were killed or the angels bound up. And we also have to remember that only 200 of the angels were bound in Tartarus. All indications are that many more angels rebelled with Satan at the beginning. They of course would have influence on the population of mankind that was left on earth before the flood.

The passage in Jubilees is interesting because it goes into detail about not only mankind, but the animals that walked the earth and also the birds. One must remember that Satan hates God and although he couldn't pervert mankind with the Nephilim anymore, he was bound and determined to not only destroy mankind with a polluted gene pool, but also ALL of God's creation. So it would come as no surprise to me that knowledge was imparted to mankind of how to crossbreed different "kinds" of animals through gene manipulation. And if the Book of Jubilees isn't enough to enforce this history, the book of Jasher approaches it with much more specificity.

Now some readers are probably dismissing this because of preconceived notions that pervades the thoughts of modern man, which state that more ancient means more primitive; mankind couldn't have possibly have had the wherewithal to do such things. We don't take into account that when Adam was created, and later Eve, they were created with intelligence programmed into them. They weren't some bumbling automatons that jumped every time that God pushed some button. They were created with free will and the intelligence to choose which way they could go. That is a sign of intelligence. The reason they fell was because Satan appealed to Eve's lust to become a higher power and Adam's desire to please his wife and not wanting her to go through God's chastisement all by herself. These things required thinking and deduction; all of which are not signs of idiots or morons.

I'm a firm believer that Plato's Atlantis was really the antediluvian world. Plato wrote about a highly advanced civilization which existed long before his time. Who can really disprove that their intelligence (that of the antediluvian society; AKA Atlantis) wasn't in many ways up to par with current technology. Archeologists find strange mechanisms all of the time in layers of history that they ascribe as ancient. Such finds include a battery from ancient Egypt, crude computer-like geared instruments from ancient Greece and even crude piped plumbing from the once great Minoan Empire. In an interesting prophecy given to Daniel we read:

But thou, O Daniel, shut up the words, and seal the book, even to the time of the end: many shall run to and fro, and knowledge shall be increased. Daniel 12:4

Now if Daniel was told that in the time of the end that, "knowledge shall increase," and Yeshua said that the time of His coming will be, "as it was in the days of Noah," it stands to reason that civilization at Noah's time was quite advanced, maybe as much as it is today.

Some might say that if the antediluvians did have a society that is advanced or close to advanced as we have today that there would be a lot of evidences of that civilization. So, where is that great evidence? All one has to do is see the result of one tornado in a mid-west American town, or the result of the recent tsunami that destroyed many shorelines from India to Indonesia and one can realize that total destruction can be achieved in a fairly short period of time leaving only rubble where houses, buildings and other structures once stood. Now, the result of a worldwide deluge where torrents of water scrubbed the earth for nearly a year could totally obliterate any indication of a civilization no matter how large or advanced and not leave a trace.

Again, with the subject of gene manipulation, the passage in The Book of Jubilees states that:

and all flesh corrupted its way, alike men and cattle and beasts and birds and everything that walks on the earth - all of them corrupted their ways and their orders,

In the Genesis creation account, God uses the word, "kinds," to describe varieties of animals. In other words, all horses are of one kind, they are all horses, including zebra's. All cats (even the big ones) are of one kind. All the different varieties of dogs belong to one kind; they're all dogs. You get the picture. So in the passage from Jubilees where the word "orders" is written if one was to substitute the word "kinds," like God wrote in Genesis. The passage should read:

and all flesh corrupted its way, alike men and cattle and beasts and birds and everything that walks on the earth - all of them corrupted their ways and their kinds. (Dave's Paraphrase)

Another thing to remember is that it is most probable that the animals before the flood didn't have animosity toward one another. When the curse came because of Adam and Eve's sin, it was divided into three parts. The first part was God's curse on the serpent (Satan) which doubled as God's first prophecy of the future advent of the Messiah. The second curse was place upon Eve, who was told that she would birth children in great pain. The third curse was on Adam, who had the ground cursed so that he would have to toil in great agony to produce a crop to eat. There was no curse on any of the animals. It's my contention that the animals before the flood were docile, tame and we know by God's own word that the animals did not fear mankind before the flood. God changes things after the flood and tells Noah:

And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered. Genesis 9:2

It is also most probable that humankind and the animals before the flood were all vegetarians. There are two things that bear this truth for humans. First, God proclaims to Adam that He (God) had given every herb bearing seed and every tree to be used as meat:

And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat. Genesis 1:29

Second, after the flood he gives Noah permission to use animals for food:

Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things. Genesis 9:3

It is interesting that God sort of backs up the eating of meat of animals, but he backs up the way things were before by mentioning that the plants were still okay to eat as they were before the flood. In all actuality, part of the reason why God now allowed animals for food was that there wasn't a lot of plant life right after the flood and also the proteins and animal fats would be necessary for the human body because the atmosphere had now changed. The proteins and fats would be necessary to enrich the human body, helping to protect it from worldly conditions that had never been experienced before. The atmosphere was thinner, the sun shone brighter with it's harmful rays now reaching the face of the earth and so on.

Getting back on subject, the passage in Jubilees says that the animals had corrupted ways. There could be several implications here. First, it is possible that the docile herbivores had changed their ways and started to hunt each other. This is born out by the phrase in the same chapter that says that the animals started to devour each other. The sad part is that in the same chapter it talks about the humans doing the same act, devouring each other; which tells me that cannibalism was practiced. But the thing that I want to investigate here is that the passage says that the animals had corrupted their "kinds." But how could animals corrupt their own kinds. Surely horses don't have the intelligence to manipulate their genes, nor do any other animals; but mankind had the capability. He had the intelligence and could listen to the ideas of the fallen angels and demonic voices of the Nephilim and was able to perform these perverted acts. Mankind was already in rebellion against God and gene manipulation was the perfect tool that Satan and his minions could use to corrupt and try to destroy all of God's creation. Again we refer to Jasher:

And their judges and rulers went to the daughters of men and took their wives by force from their husbands according to their choice, and the sons of men in those days took from the cattle of the earth, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the air, and taught the mixture of animals of one species with the other, in order therewith to provoke the Lord; and God saw the whole earth and it was corrupt, for all flesh had corrupted its ways upon earth, all men and all animals. And the Lord said, I will blot out man that I created from the face of the earth, yea from man to the birds of the air, together with cattle and beasts that are in the field for I repent that I made them. Jasher 4:18-19

Since the "kinds" of the animals had been manipulated by mankind, or perhaps direct intervention of the fallen angels, all of the ancestors of those animals would have corrupted genes. All sorts of genetic freaks would have infested the earth. It seems possible, at least to me, that this is how some of the hideous looking dinosaurs came into being. As mentioned above, the ancients after the flood had legends of all types of strange creatures. If given the knowledge, I see no reason why creatures like the minotaur, the centaur, the Pegasus and other weren't actual creations of perverted biologists and geneticists that lived before the flood. Fifty years ago, before the advent of gene manipulation, what I am writing here would have caused me to be a laughingstock. Today, when doctors are installing bovine and pig valves in human hearts; and when they are growing human ears on the backs of mice, such a thing doesn't sound too far fetched. In a day when we read articles like one I've read recently, where some geneticists are attempting to clone a human cell from a cow's egg and all sorts of animals have been cloned, creating animals that are mixtures of two different kinds doesn't seem to to be fantasy anymore.

Isn't God great? Just as I was writing this article, National Geographic came out with an article about mixing human and animal genome. Directly below is the article:

Animal-Human Hybrids Spark Controversy

Scientists have begun blurring the line between human and animal by producing chimeras—a hybrid creature that's part human, part animal.

Chinese scientists at the Shanghai Second Medical University in 2003 successfully fused human cells with rabbit eggs. The embryos were reportedly the first human-animal chimeras successfully created. They were allowed to develop for several days in a laboratory dish before the scientists destroyed the embryos to harvest their stem cells.

In Minnesota last year researchers at the Mayo Clinic created pigs with human blood flowing through their bodies.

And at Stanford University in California an experiment might be done later this year to create mice with human brains.

Scientists feel that, the more humanlike the animal, the better research model it makes for testing drugs or possibly growing "spare parts," such as livers, to transplant into humans.

Watching how human cells mature and interact in a living creature may also lead to the discoveries of new medical treatments.

But creating human-animal chimeras—named after a monster in Greek mythology that had a lion's head, goat's body, and serpent's tail—has raised troubling questions: What new subhuman combination should be produced and for what purpose? At what point would it be considered human? And what rights, if any, should it have?

There are currently no U.S. federal laws that address these issues.

Ethical Guidelines

The National Academy of Sciences, which advises the U.S. government, has been studying the issue. In March it plans to present voluntary ethical guidelines for researchers.

A chimera is a mixture of two or more species in one body. Not all are considered troubling, though.

For example, faulty human heart valves are routinely replaced with ones taken from cows and pigs. The surgery—which makes the recipient a human-animal chimera—is widely accepted. And for years scientists have added human genes to bacteria and farm animals.

What's caused the uproar is the mixing of human stem cells with embryonic animals to create new species.

Biotechnology activist Jeremy Rifkin is opposed to crossing species boundaries, because he believes animals have the right to exist without being tampered with or crossed with another species.

He concedes that these studies would lead to some medical breakthroughs. Still, they should not be done.

"There are other ways to advance medicine and human health besides going out into the strange, brave new world of chimeric animals," Rifkin said, adding that sophisticated computer models can substitute for experimentation on live animals.

"One doesn't have to be religious or into animal rights to think this doesn't make sense," he continued. "It's the scientists who want to do this. They've now gone over the edge into the pathological domain."

David Magnus, director of the Stanford Center for Biomedical Ethics at Stanford University, believes the real worry is whether or not chimeras will be put to uses that are problematic, risky, or dangerous.

Human Born to Mice Parents?

For example, an experiment that would raise concerns, he said, is genetically engineering mice to produce human sperm and eggs, then doing in vitro fertilization to produce a child whose parents are a pair of mice.

"Most people would find that problematic," Magnus said, "but those uses are bizarre and not, to the best of my knowledge, anything that anybody is remotely contemplating. Most uses of chimeras are actually much more relevant to practical concerns."

Last year Canada passed the Assisted Human Reproduction Act, which bans chimeras. Specifically, it prohibits transferring a nonhuman cell into a human embryo and putting human cells into a nonhuman embryo.

Cynthia Cohen is a member of Canada's Stem Cell Oversight Committee, which oversees research protocols to ensure they are in accordance with the new guidelines.

She believes a ban should also be put into place in the U.S.

Creating chimeras, she said, by mixing human and animal gametes (sperms and eggs) or transferring reproductive cells, diminishes human dignity.

"It would deny that there is something distinctive and valuable about human beings that ought to be honored and protected," said Cohen, who is also the senior research fellow at Georgetown University's Kennedy Institute of Ethics in Washington, D.C.

But, she noted, the wording on such a ban needs to be developed carefully. It shouldn't outlaw ethical and legitimate experiments—such as transferring a limited number of adult human stem cells into animal embryos in order to learn how they proliferate and grow during the prenatal period.

Irv Weissman, director of Stanford University's Institute of Cancer/Stem Cell Biology and Medicine in California, is against a ban in the United States.

"Anybody who puts their own moral guidance in the way of this biomedical science, where they want to impose their will—not just be part of an argument—if that leads to a ban or moratorium. … they are stopping research that would save human lives," he said.

Mice With Human Brains

Weissman has already created mice with brains that are about one percent human.

Later this year he may conduct another experiment where the mice have 100 percent human brains. This would be done, he said, by injecting human neurons into the brains of embryonic mice.

Before being born, the mice would be killed and dissected to see if the architecture of a human brain had formed. If it did, he'd look for traces of human cognitive behavior.

Weissman said he's not a mad scientist trying to create a human in an animal body. He hopes the experiment leads to a better understanding of how the brain works, which would be useful in treating diseases like Alzheimer's or Parkinson's disease.

The test has not yet begun. Weissman is waiting to read the National Academy's report, due out in March.

William Cheshire, associate professor of neurology at the Mayo Clinic's Jacksonville, Florida, branch, feels that combining human and animal neurons is problematic.

"This is unexplored biologic territory," he said. "Whatever moral threshold of human neural development we might choose to set as the limit for such an experiment, there would be a considerable risk of exceeding that limit before it could be recognized."

Cheshire supports research that combines human and animal cells to study cellular function. As an undergraduate he participated in research that fused human and mouse cells.

But where he draws the ethical line is on research that would destroy a human embryo to obtain cells, or research that would create an organism that is partly human and partly animal.

"We must be cautious not to violate the integrity of humanity or of animal life over which we have a stewardship responsibility," said Cheshire, a member of Christian Medical and Dental Associations. "Research projects that create human-animal chimeras risk disturbing fragile ecosystems, endanger health, and affront species integrity."

So as you can see, I'm not making these things up. The article above is from a respected magazine that is dedicated to exposing the supposed truths of science. And this is just a few things that we're learning about. What about the experiments that we don't hear about.

What Does The Future Hold?

So we have seen that in many ways our age is similar to "the days of Noah." We have to ask ourselves what does the future hold. What will we see coming out of the laboratories around the world? I think that we will see very little of what genetic perverts are birthing in in their labs. If the public could see what is being done we would be appalled and demand an end to the experiments. The Bible isn't too clear about such things, but it does mention two separate events that are sort of curious. Now I have to mention here that the views that I am about to write are speculation which I believe will be born out. You might have your ideas about these two subjects and object to mine, but I ask that you consider that these things might be a possibility. We'll work backward in our approach. I mean by this that I'm going to go to the Book of Revelation first then to the Book of Daniel.

The Locust Swarm:

In Revelation Chapter nine we read about some very strange creatures. Read the passage below then we'll look at it more in depth:

And the fifth angel sounded, and I saw a star fall from heaven unto the earth: and to him was given the key of the bottomless pit. And he opened the bottomless pit; and there arose a smoke out of the pit, as the smoke of a great furnace; and the sun and the air were darkened by reason of the smoke of the pit. And there came out of the smoke locusts upon the earth: and unto them was given power, as the scorpions of the earth have power. And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; but only those men which have not the seal of God in their foreheads. And to them it was given that they should not kill them, but that they should be tormented five months: and their torment was as the torment of a scorpion, when he striketh a man. And in those days shall men seek death, and shall not find it; and shall desire to die, and death shall flee from them. And the shapes of the locusts were like unto horses prepared unto battle; and on their heads were as it were crowns like gold, and their faces were as the faces of men. And they had hair as the hair of women, and their teeth were as the teeth of lions. And they had breastplates, as it were breastplates of iron; and the sound of their wings was as the sound of chariots of many horses running to battle. And they had tails like unto scorpions, and there were stings in their tails: and their power was to hurt men five months. And they had a king over them, which is the angel of the bottomless pit, whose name in the Hebrew tongue is Abaddon, but in the Greek tongue hath his name Apollyon. Revelation 9:1-11

Now before we go any farther we need to talk about where hell is located. In the Bible, the word for hell is Sheol. The Wikipedia web encyclopedia describes sheol as:

She'ol is the Hebrew abode of the dead; the underworld, grave or pit. In the Hebrew Bible it is portrayed as a comfortless place beneath the earth, beyond gates, where both the bad and the good, slave and king, pious and wicked must go after death to sleep in silence and oblivion in the dust. In some sources, for example in Deuteronomy 32:22, Sheol seems to be synonymous with the depths of the earth. Sheol is generally compared to the gloomy, twilight afterlife of Hades or Tartarus from Greek mythology. Sheol is the common destination of both the righteous and the unrighteous dead; the righteous Job sees it as his destination (Job 3).

So, since I believe that the Bible is the authoritative word of God, I believe that hell is somewhere within the Earth. If you're now laughing at me, you will probably find out that I'm right after you draw your last breath. As an aside, we have to make one correction to the definition above. When Yeshua (Jesus) died he went to hell and preached to the people who died before his first advent. Those who believed His message and accepted Him as Lord and Savior were taken to heaven with Him. This changed the nature of Hell and it has been since that time only a place where the wicked go after death. Born again believers who die go straight to Heaven to be with the Lord.

We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with the Lord. 2 Corinthians 5:8

Now there are many who throughout the ages who have tried to identify the locusts mentioned in the Revelation scenario as many different things. Some equate them to be demons, others ascribe them the status of fallen angels. Some have even made the assumption that these locusts are really some sort of mechanized human invention, but one has to study and when one does that, one will see that these beings are living beings with strange attributes. It's pretty easy to figure out. What do normal locusts eat when they ravage a land? They eat plants, like grass and tree leaves. They were even given a command:

And it was commanded them that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree;

So it is highly doubtful, especially since these creatures were specially created to torment mankind, that they are some sort of demon or angelic being; they are some mutated form of locust. I believe that since Satan and the fallen angels have had a great deal of experience at gene manipulation, that these creatures are their creation. I do believe that these creatures might be possessed by demons when they make their appearance. I base that on the fact that they have a king over them, and Satan is the king of the demonic realm. So again, we see the evil ones messing around with species creation, melding several kinds of animals into one hellacious painful creature.
