After having read some of the most wonderful testimonies, of persons who have been delivered from the grip of Witchcraft or Wicca, I can confidently say that there is “Hope.” If you are presently involved in some form of Witchcraft or Wicca; you need not be lonely anymore, for there are many others who were just like you; who have made it through and found safety in the arms of the true ‘lover of our souls’; “The Lord Jesus Christ.” (Romans 8:38 & 39)
How I arrived at this conclusion after bathing myself in some of the darkest pits of sadness and loneliness, I am sure you are curious to know. If this is the case; then this article is just for You ! It may be easy to pass judgment on someone involved in Wicca or Witchcraft, saying: “You are evil, the Bible says so!”, or some stupid comment like that; but in truth this will be of no help, and is most definitely not the sort of thing you will read in the entire body of this article. Though I have researched until my head ached and my heart ached and my soul felt exhausted by all the darkness that I was reading about, I knew that in order to give a worthy account I had to examine the information from many angles. Due to the ‘nature of the beast’, I was forced to take time off to rest and pray and repair damaged armour, for the enemy is subtle and does not like to have his plans examined or exposed. (Ephesians 6:11) I came to know “The Lord Jesus Christ” personally, in 1976, whilst I was in Naval Detention Quarters for crimes against the Military. (Absent without leave & disobeying lawful instructions) After I was released I was baptized in the Holy Spirit at a place called Apostles Battery above Llundudno in South Africa. (John 20:21 & 22) – ‘the promise of the Father’ Being deeply involved in every form of evil at the time, His saving grace delivered me from the edge. (Ephesians 2:8) I had contemplated suicide as the only solution to the emptiness that surrounded me. I believed that this was the only way to set myself free. By a miracle, I was rescued from what I understand now to be “the devils clutches” and was translated to the Kingdom of God. (Colossians 1:13) In Jesus, I have found peace and joy and a calm assurance that I found nowhere else. (John 14:6) So why an article on Witchcraft? I think this should be quite obvious. Suicide is on the increase amongst teenagers on a worldwide scale and so much of it is related to experimentation with items such as are associated with Witchcraft and Wicca and the Occult, namely tarot cards and ouija boards and drugs that are used to induce ‘trance experiences’. (2 Timothy 4:4)
One such incident took place, in my neighbourhood, when a group of young school girls were playing with a “ouija board” on the school playground. The game ended up being the most terrifying day of their lives and led to one of the teenagers becoming “demon possessed.” (Acts 17:18) These demons were so deeply embedded, that it took a few days and nights of prayer till finally they left the girl alone. (Mark 9:29) Needles to say, the whole experience turned the heads of even the most stiff-necked medical professionals. Everyone had something to say in the face of the events. I decided to write. I am aware that to attack Witchcraft or Wicca as the cause of these events would be wrong, but let’s be real here! ,there are so many things in this realm that we really do not understand. In the early years of “ignorance”, people were put to death because of being accused of participating in Witchcraft. I personally think this approach is based on superstition and fear coupled with ignorance, and is ultimately, ‘evil.’
Doing this to other human beings, is as wrong as what Adolph Hitler and his disciples, did to the Jews during the Second World War, or bloody killing during the Crusades, or the bloodbath of innocent killings that happen everyday in the religious wars fought between the Catholics and the Protestants in Ireland, or the current wars between Jews and the Moslems in the East. It is true to say that the most despicable acts ever done against fellow human beings have been done in the name of religion. It is clear that they never read the words of Jesus Christ on the night that he was betrayed, when he told Peter to put away his sword, and those that chose to live by the sword would perish by the sword. (Matthew 26:52) Now, if you are a Witch (Black/White), or you are a Pagan or somebody involved in Wicca, or you are just curious, do not expect ‘sensationalism’ in this article. With the aid of the “Word of God”/”The Scriptures” (2 Timothy 3:16), we can, as it were, look back in time, to the beginning. It is in the very inner sanctuary of ‘Creations Dawn’, that the seeds of “evil” were sown, later producing a harvest of Devilish proportions. (Galatians 5:19-22) We have advanced so far into forms of Idolatry, (the worship of Idols {Romans 1:23}, or anything that is given more importance than God), that we scarcely are aware of what a disappointment we are to Our Creator. {Romans 1:28} The origins of Witchcraft as we know of it today are far different to the Witchcraft that existed in the times of King Saul {1 Samuel 28:7}, and later, in the times of Jesus’ disciples, Paul & Silas {Acts 16:16-18} and Phillip {Acts 8:9-24}). The origins of Modern Witchcraft are drawn from a potpourri of Theosophy,6 Rosicrucianism and Free Masonry, and more. It is clear that Wicca and Witchcraft, have been revived from sources other than those which existed before the flood in Noah’s time. Some of the doctrines must have leaked through into Babylon, where it finally made its way to us. (via; Noah’s offspring). It is interesting to note that most cultures in their infancy have depended on the insight and wisdom of Seers/Sorcerers and Mediums. It is believed that Adolph Hitler sought the counsel of ‘darkness’ on a regular basis. Who knows where our leaders find their wisdom in these closing chapters of Earth’s history? In the times of Daniel (a prophet of Jehovah), the situation was somewhat reversed and the Spiritual Guides were unable to assist King Nebuchadnezzar in the interpretation of his dreams. It was only the God of ‘Abraham, Isaac and Jacob’ who was able to help with this interpretation; through His servant Daniel. (read: Daniel 2:19 … ‘to be read in context.’) It is clear that there are two basic lines, from whence Witchcraft/Wicca came. The one partially died out. The other has been revived from teachings that have their roots in Ancient Babylon, where Freemasonry, Idolatry and Goddess worship and more seem to get their major roots from. I would like to look at them in that order and see how
far we can go back, to the roots! 1). The one that partially died out: It all began when Adam and Eve met the ‘devil’5 and he deceived them into the dominion of Darkness. Then came the period, prior to the floods, where various Angelic visitations occurred, introducing beings from the heavenly realm, who had been given the task of watching over and protecting mankind, but instead they forced themselves upon the human race, engaging in sexual relations with beautiful women they had lusted after, thereby producing “freaks”/ a deformed offspring of giants, as the bible calls them, “heroes of old”. (Genesis 6:1-5) Though there is only documentation in extra-biblical1 sources as to what exactly transpired then, it is clear that there was contact and ‘gross evil.’ So much so, that it is recorded, that God was very disappointed, that He had created mankind, and wanted to wipe them off the face of the Earth. (Genesis 6:6) Noah and his family were chosen to survive a great flood that was sent to cleanse the Earth. However, Noah’s offspring were not all as obedient as Noah and I believe retained some of the things they were taught prior to the Flood; in the company of those who were called: sons of God. (Angels) These evil practices gradually spread from generation to generation on through to The Assyrians and The Philistines and Nimrod etc. (Sodom and Gomorrah and the Tower of Babel). { read Genesis Chapter 10 } The reference to “ the witch of Endor” in the times of King Saul, who was afraid of the outcome of the battle against the Assyrians, and secretly sought out counsel with this person, draws me to the conclusion that these practices had been kept secret and practiced and revived. Whether they contained the original
strain was not apparent to me until I studied the basic teaching of modern
Witchcraft. 2). The teachings that were revived: Babel where Nimrod lived, became the
root from which most of Modern Wicca and Witchcraft seem to proceed from
and traces of the whole development of evil to the present day forms.
Much of this is developed in a study by Alexander Hysslop in his book the Two Babylons. This is very deep and deserves a reading if you wish to see how much of Babylonian evil is currently mixed into our Modern World.2 As mentioned in the early part of this article, there were sources of Modern Witchcraft and Wicca that came from the research of modern witches involved in Freemasonry and other systems, which were active slightly over a century ago. Names such as Gardener, Murray and Crowley are synonymous with the creation of ‘Modern Witchcraft and Wicca.’
They clearly draw their ideas from Freemasonry, Theosophy and Rosicrucianism along with a host of other ideas from ancient writings. It is, as I said, a ‘potpourri’ of ideas. “Gardener” is supremely responsible for the revival of Witchcraft in our ‘modern world’ having combined his ideas with those of Margaret Murray (1863 – 1963), from books like, “The Witch Cult of Western Europe” (1921) and “The God of the Witches” (1933). Essentially through Garderner’s “Potpourri-Witchraft”, as I will call it, it was made up of a lot more parts than I have mentioned above. At the core: is the worship of the “Mother Goddess.” The sources he used to establish this;

Clearly he must have drawn from much more, for he was very well read and a 7th Degree initiate of Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO). Others further expounded upon Gardener bringing more and more of their own ideas to the collection of rather scattered ideas that constitute Modern Wicca or Witchcraft, i.e.: Raymond and Rosemary Buckland who wrote, “Gardeners Goddess Religion” The current sources explain that Modern Witchcraft is made up of three basic thoughts:
There are so many Goddess’s and God’s to choose from that I became quite lost in whether anyone really at the end had any idea what the other was talking about; the potpourri had turned into a maze. However, there seemed to be a consistent thought as to what was important. Namely, ‘proficiency in Magic and Divination.’ The use of chanting, drugs (poisons), ecstatic dancing, hypnosis, meditation, rituals, sex magic and visualization; either combined or parts of, plus a whole host of others, seemed to be what was among some of the practices entered into. Experiences with Goddess and/or “the horned one”, (as the male consort is named), and possession during rituals or spells is practiced by many witches. In the end it seems that the individual is what is important, becoming a God or a Goddess, which leads us back to the first discovery when Eve encountered Satan at creations dawn. This was the very lie he used to lure her in. Nothing much has changed, has it? He is still the biggest liar of all! A look at the lyrics of a song done by ‘Queen’3 called “The Great Pretender.” – says it so well. However, to really understand why Witchcraft has become so popular in our contemporary cultures, we need to do a little bit of reading from the Bible.
In Genesis 3:4 & 5 (the ‘devil’ who is referred to as “the serpent” - Revelation 12:9) says to the woman: “Ye shall not surely die: For God doth know that in the day ye eat thereof, then your eyes shall be opened, and ye shall be gods, knowing good and evil.” “A promise of power and enlightenment, leading to divinity and equality with Almighty God.” In Modern Witchcraft and Wicca and most of the new religions, certainly even some of the older ones, one finds that this particular teaching is at the root of it. The first liar in the History of the Human Race, has not changed his strategy, he is still convincing people that he knows better than God, and that the knowledge he has will lead one to the very thing that he tells us God is depriving us of. He has been lying for approximately 6000 years. That is a long time to delude oneself. “The promise of Divinity”, by renouncing the Lord Jesus Christ and the God of the Bible is a common practice during initiation rites of most of the root forms, as well as the actual Wiccan and Witchcraft forms. (there are some exceptions!) This ‘doctrine of the devil’ is what caught out the first of God’s Creation and seems to be extending its hold upon this new generation who seeks a sign, who seeks an experience, something sensational. (John 4:48) For it is only the experience that seems to justify whether it is true or not. Not the same as trusting in what God has done in Jesus Christ, and experiencing the peace that surpasses understanding. (Romans 5:1) Many of the Witches hide within what they believe is a safe proximity, namely that: “Experience and Ritual are more important than Doctrine.” Thereby supposedly excusing themselves from scrutiny, this is nonsense for “Experience and Ritual” would then be a Doctrine, and therefore available for scrutiny and analysis. A lot of the defenses that are used to justify the practices involved in are far from reality and defy logic. This is not good for it means that Wicca and Witchcraft will then be placed in the “False Cults Section.” The fact that they deny the existence of evil is one for the psychiatrist’s chair. Many have cut themselves off from reality, as do most of the major cults in the world today. Not keeping up-to-date on current affairs and losing touch with the real issues in the world that we live in. Evil is no mystery, and is certainly not non-existent this is just another comfortable lie that Satan has deceived many into believing. (Revelation 12:9) Everything is not all right, though Satan would seem to want us to believe it is so, for: “With great subtlety we are being lulled into complacency, rocked in the cradle of blindness, pacified with the dummy of deceit, covered with a blanket of fleshly contentment, placed in a coma of poisonous paralysis, in which state he can easily wheel us into Hell’s morgue, trapping us in the same folly of pride in which he has bound his own heart, through willfulness, against Almighty God!”
Self-worship and the worship of God’s and Goddess’ are the main emphasis of Wicca and Witchcraft. In fact there is complete freedom to have whatever Goddess or God one desires. This having found its root in Free Masonry, where even Satanists are allowed to become members. Freemasonry is one of a multitude of roots from which Modern Witchcraft originates. Even practicing Witches are at home in such an environment. The whole obsession in Free Masonry and its emphasis on self-development, the ‘degrees’ and ‘the experience’ have its root in the original lie that Satan told Eve in the beginning. These are also present in Wicca and Witchcraft, in many different forms. Like rat poison, it is mixed in with all the positive social comments, thereby making the potion far more deadly. Like the fly fisherman’s lure, it is swallowed – hook, line and sinker! It has sunken so deep into human personality that Wicca and Witchcraft are now of 5 of the most popular growing religions in the world today. Even as we speak, Hollywood is opening the floodgates of evil upon the minds of our children. Satan is after our children with a vengeance. If he can corrupt them, when they are young and innocent, he won’t have much of a problem dragging them off with him to the final judgment that awaits him and his ‘fallen angelic army.’ Films like those associated with the Occult and Witchcraft are very popular these days. The demands for this type of video are apparent in the huge quantities that fill the shelves of every video shop around the world. The obsession with matters ‘dark and demonic’ is painting a terrible tattoo upon our minds. What we allow ourselves to watch on Television, I am sure, most of us would never allow into the sanctuary of our homes. Websites on the Internet are swamped with children searching for real Warlocks and Witches, on how to be initiated into their orders, so that they can practice magic in the same way that they are seeing in the movies. Hollywood and the Occult are in bed together and the children that are being born as a result of watching Television and the Movies, with open eyes are taking as role models the character types of these necromancers, witches and warlocks who are portrayed as heroes. Whereas the enemies are supposed to be those who don’t believe in magic, where good is presented as evil and the opposite. Nothing has changed! Satan’s strategy to control the minds of mankind is still the enemy’s most important plan of action, as the time of Man closes. He still is a liar and he is working through the likes of Wicca and Witchcraft to introduce his master plan of deceit. Are you deceived? Are you being played with? Being told you are divine, a Goddess or a God? Being told that everything is alright? Then you have fallen into the clutches of this very subtle and monstrous enemy of the human soul. His folly is described in the books of Isaiah and Ezekiel, I call him, “The Angel who wanted to be God, and got caught!” (Isaiah 14:12 & 13) He is a very sad creature, who roams the earth trying to corrupt all who he encounters. Another of his prime directives seems to be, to try and get you to disbelieve his existence as an evil entity. The subject of Satan is very well documented in the pages of the “Word of God”. With the use of a Concordance one can uncover the entire truth of this enemy! There are also powerful verses on how to overcome him, and free your soul from his clutches. In the New Testament times, preaching Jesus and the Kingdom of God, was the only way that these chains were broken off. By seeking out the fellowship of Bible Believing Christians and joining a Church where the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ is preached, and taught you should then be exposed to the kind of love and sensitivity that you will need to recover from the scars that you may have incurred from being exposed to so much of what is taught in Wicca and Witchcraft, and any other similar forms that are not covered in this article.
Into History came Jesus, as the ‘God man.’ (1 Timothy 3:16) He had no problem dealing with Satan and his demonic forces. After fasting in the Desert for 40 days, He overcame the Devil with the Word of God. Three times the devil tried to get Jesus to give up the Will of God, and three times Jesus overcame him with the Word of God. He quoted the Scriptures from Deuteronomy {an Old Testament Book}, then the Devil left and the Angels of God came and ministered to Him. All throughout Jesus’ Ministry on earth, He dealt quickly and effectively with demonic manifestations; whether it was in a person who practiced ‘dark arts’ for money, or in a person who was completely possessed by legions of demons, or just a few demons. He drove them out by the finger of God, speaking to them and identifying them and then banishing them from the troubled individuals, who were then restored to their senses, and received gentle counsel, and given something to eat.
He healed deafness and blindness and muteness. As He walked from place to place, His love and light and the power of the Kingdom of God, touched people’s lives. He never killed witches or anyone, for that matter, for practicing evil deeds, or participating in dark rituals. In fact quite the opposite, He talked and listened and comforted and healed all who came to Him, with faith in their hearts. He was more at home with the sinners and the publican’s than with the Teacher’s of the Law and the false Rabbi’s. He won them with loving kindness and opened their minds to a better life, released from the grip of Satan. He taught them to love one another in a self-sacrificial way. ‘So the stronghold of Sorcery and Witchcraft and Idolatry, as well as everything that separates us from God’s love was being broken by the Lord Jesus Christ.’ (many of His disciples called Him: “Master”, or as Thomas called Him, “My Lord and my God!”) Then Jesus died upon the Cross and descended into Hell, where He took the keys of death and hell away from Satan. Jesus’ body and shed blood on the cross, brings forgiveness and pardon for all mankind. However one can only know this pardon, forgiveness and cleansing from sin if one gives oneself totally and completely to Him. This is still happening today! The covenant He made is an ‘eternal covenant’, and the blood of Jesus can cleanse us from our sins and heal our diseases and delivers us from the grip of the ‘evil one.’ All who preached ‘Jesus’ and the ‘Kingdom of God,’ by the way more perfect, namely Phillip and Paul and Silas, did so under the anointing of the Holy Spirit. Sorcery was “brought down”, as one of the local Sorcerer’s gave up all that he was into. He simply followed after ‘Jesus’ disciples, who now walked in the same power that raised ‘Jesus’ from the dead. (Romans 8:11) Entire collections of occult related paraphernalia and books were burnt, as many new disciples renounced their involvement in the works of darkness. (Acts 19:19)
There was no need to kill witches or sorcerers, or anyone involved in evil practices. The preaching of Jesus and the Kingdom of God will break the chains, rituals and spells! For Jesus is Alive, and He is risen from the dead. Jesus introduced a whole new way of dealing with the enemy. He made ‘new creations, with resurrection power, sons and daughters of the Living God who can easily subdue and bind the Satan and bring down his house.’ Two verses sum this up very nicely:
Giving your heart, soul, mind and strength to Jesus will bring you into a position where you will experience deliverance and victory over Satan and any of the holds or curses or he has placed on your life, will be broken! Of this I am totally convinced! It happened to me. Thanks to Jesus, I am free. Now it is your turn to be free.
In the Dark Ages, there was a move into religious fanaticism. The earlier years of Revival and Spiritual purity were replaced by penance and secret confessions. Prayer was replaced by liturgy and Idol worship. Babylon invaded the Church, as did the teachings of Baal, false humility and food sacrificed to Idols and Sexual Immorality. (Acts 15:20) Doctrine was exchanged with Human Ideas. Evil became good, and good became Evil. Whenever this happens in History, bad, bad, bad things start to take place. (I have seen so much that is now being condoned in the world that up until a few years ago, had been regarded as wrong, come tumbling down. Morals and Ethics are on a revision course for the world wide anti-Christian domination of our Planet. - 2 Thessalonians 2: 6 - 11). Persecution of Disciples of Jesus went almost undocumented. They were fed to lions, crucified upside down, burned and stoned for their faith in Jesus. At the head of the attacks initially was the Jewish hierarchal leadership, followed by the Apostate Church of Rome.4 Down through history the cruelty that was shown towards many who were accused of practicing ‘dark arts’ and were instead just following the Lord Jesus Christ is well documented. (The book - “Foxes Martyrs” contains many such accounts.) In Salem, in 1692, many people were accused of participating in Witchcraft and put to death by hanging; under a corrupt legal system, where Witchcraft had been made a ‘capital crime’ in 1641. (19 people were hung and one old man stoned to death and many remained in prison for months until the frenzy had died down. The rest is recorded History. ) The legal system of Salem was clearly compiled by blind and hate filled fanatics, not filled with the ‘kind of love’ that comes from Jesus and from his disciples. (Acts 4:13) (Superstition abounded and ignorance was common place and seems to have been the cause for many such acts, down through History.) It is a disgraceful organization that calls itself, “Christian,” but does not uphold the command of Jesus Christ, to love thy neighbour, as thyself.
If you are a true believer in the Lord Jesus Christ and have been born again by Spirit and water. If you have been baptized in the Holy Spirit, and you are wearing the armour of God. You are not to lift a hand to attack a Witch or any of their friends, or for that matter any human being or any of God’s creatures; this is the teaching of Jesus Christ. (1 John 3:23). You need to practice gentleness and be respectful to people who are of a different mindset. You are to win them with your love not your anger, with sensitivity not a judgmental spirit. (1 Peter 3: 15) Rather than getting all terrifying and trying to drive out demons, first teach people about Jesus ‘in love’, and tell them about the ‘Kingdom of God.’ The preaching of the Gospel is the power of God unto Salvation to all who believe. (Romans 1: 16) If you find you are in ‘deep waters’ with someone who is involved in Witchcraft or Wicca, ie: you are in a relationship, and are finding it impossible to break it off. He was a beautiful creature and filled with music, but he became filled with pride at his own beauty. He tried to ascend above his position and challenge the supremacy of God. His pride led to him being banished from his lofty post in the heavenly realm, taking with him a third of the angels.
In this state, as a chief ‘fallen’ Angel, he has declared war on God’s creation; trying to destroy them with the same pride that brought about his demise. The Bible clearly teaches that he is a ‘vanquished’ foe, and that he has no power against a ‘child of God’ who is able to overcome him by the blood of “JESUS”, the word of their testimony and because they are more in love with Him than even their own lives. (refer Revelation 12:11) For the love of God that is shed abroad in their hearts by the Holy Spirit, they offer back to the One who gave all of Heaven’s Glory to rescue them: in the form of worship, praise, prayer and selfless love for their fellow humans beings. (Romans 5:5)
Definitions: 6Theosophy: ‘any of various ancient & modern philosophies professing to attain to a knowledge of God by spiritual ecstasy, direct intuition, or special individual relations. Rosicrucianism: ‘a society devoted to occult lore & magic said to have been founded in 1484 by Christian Rosenkreuz. Freemasonry: ‘a secret order, pledged to brotherliness and mutual aid.’
